Log Viewer 

Purpose

The Log Viewer is a tool to display log and trace messages that help you to monitor your system and analyze errors. The following types of Log Viewers are available:

●     Logs and Traces in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator

SAP NetWeaver Administrator is the new Web Dynpro-based tool for administration and monitoring, offering a central entry point to the whole SAP NetWeaver system landscape. In the Logs and Traces plug-in of the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, you can view all list and text formatted logs and traces that are generated from the whole SAP NetWeaver system landscape. ●     Integrated Log Viewer in the Visual Administrator

All logs that are written from the J2EE Engine and all applications that are running on it are automatically registered in the Integrated Log Viewer in the Visual Administrator. For more information, see Integrated Log Viewer.

●     Standalone Log Viewer

The Standalone Log Viewer consists of a Log Viewer server and a Log Viewer client. You can view logs from a system landscape centrally using the Standalone Log Viewer, if a Log Viewer server is running on every host. For more information, see Standalone Log Viewer.

●     Command Line Log Viewer

The Command Line Log Viewer converts all files that are written by the SAP Logging API using the ListFormatter into a human readable format (TraceFormatter). For more information, see Command Line Log Viewer.

Features

The Log Viewer has the following features:

●     Displays logs from the J2EE Engine and the applications that are running on it in one place and provides you with information about the cause of problematic system and application behavior

●     Displays different log types

●     Displays logs in a human readable format

●     Allows you to add logs for viewing from client and server machines

●     Allows you to filter and search logs

●     Allows you to merge logs across multiple servers

●     Allows you to view archives of logs

●     Allows you to create CCMS templates to monitor the logs in the ABAP central monitoring system.
