The installation of the Integrated Communication Interface (ICI) is an integral part of the SAP ABAP Basis; no separate installation of the ICI is necessary. However, the Communication Management Software Simulator (CMSS) requires Java to demonstrate and test functions.

Procedure

Installing Java

The installation of the Java software is an integral part of the J2EE Engine; after you install the J2EE Engine, no further steps are necessary to install the ICI. Proceed to customize the test and live environments of the ICI using the Business Communication Broker (BCB) administration user interface.

Note Note

If you plan to use the demonstration and test functions provided by the CMSS, you must have a simple cluster setup (that is, a single-node cluster on a single physical machine). To install the ICI in a multinode cluster and use the CMSS functions, you require a second installation of the ICI for the CMSS in a single-node cluster either on the same physical machine, or on another physical machine where no other J2EE Engine is running. Nonstandard customizing settings also apply.

You can only use the existing SAP communication management software simulator connection to access a different CMSS. It is not possible to add a new connection for a different CMSS due to dynamic path determination.

End of the note.
