Update of Inventory Data for Work Order Collaboration
In supplier collaboration scenarios, the leading systems for inventory management are the ERP back-end systems of the customer and – in outsourced manufacturing scenarios – the ERP back-end systems of the suppliers. SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) only
reflects the inventory situation in these systems to provide visibility in inventory data that is vital for the collaboration process. To provide inventory data to SAP SNC (such as batch inventory), the customer and the supplier send ProductActivityNotification
XML
messages to SAP SNC.
Recommendation
For an effective collaboration using SAP SNC, such as recording actual data in the work order, it is important that the inventory data in SAP SNC is always up-to-date. Therefore, we recommend that you update the inventory regularly.
In an SAP ERP system, the customer and the supplier use reports to determine the inventory data to be transmitted and to create the ProductActivityNotification
XML messages. As of enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0,
you can transmit batch inventory data, stock in transfer, or subcontracting stock in transfer to SAP SNC. For more information, see Data Transfer from ERP Systems to SAP SNC for SNI.
On the Inventory Overview
screen for SNI, you can display the inventory data, in particular batch inventory data. For more information, see Inventory Overview.
