 Functions for Kanban Processing

Use

Various partner-specific functions are available for kanban processing in the SAP Supply Network Collaboration ( SAP SNC ). There are certain functions that both customer and supplier can use.

Features

Three tables are given below. The first table provides an overview of the functions that the supplier can execute in kanban processing. The second table contains an overview of functions that are available to the customer. The third table contains common functions.

Functions for the Supplier

Function

Description

Set kanban to In Work and save the ASN as a draft

If you, as supplier, plan to send your customer the requested kanban quantity for an empty kanban, you set the kanban to the In Work kanban status.

To do so, in the kanban details, select the kanban and choose Set Kanban to In Work and Save Draft ASN . SAP SNC automatically shows the screen area ASN Work Area and transfers the following data from the kanban to the ASN:

Ship-from location

Customer location

Shipping date/time

Delivery date/time

In the case of external number assignment, enter an ASN number manually.

You can create an ASN for more than one kanbans with the same ship-from location and customer location. SAP SNC copies the earliest shipping date/time, and the earliest delivery date/time of the kanban into the ASN.

To save the draft ASN, choose OK . The kanban acquires the In Work status. While the customer cannot see the draft ASN on the Web user interface (Web UI) of SAP SNC, the kanban status in the customer view of kanban processing shows that you are currently preparing the kanban.

If you choose Cancel , SAP SNC does not create a draft ASN. The kanban retains the Empty status.

Set kanban with the status Empty to In Transit , and publish ASN

If you send the customer the requested quantity for a kanban with the Empty status, you set the kanban to In Transit in the kanban details. To do so select the kanban in the kanban details and choose Set Kanban to In Transit and Publish ASN . SAP SNC automatically shows the ASN Work Area screen section. You check and change the ASN data, if required. In the case of external number assignment, you can enter an ASN number manually.

To publish the ASN, choose OK . SAP SNC sends the ASN to the customer. The consequences of publishing the ASN are as follows:

The customer can see the published ASN in the SAP SNC Web UI.

The kanban acquires the In Transit status.

SAP SNC updates the due list for purchasing documents and removes the kanban request from the due list.

In the kanban request for the purchase order item, SAP SNC creates confirmation schedule lines with the schedule line type ASN-Confirmed.

If you choose Cancel , SAP SNC does not publish an ASN. The kanban retains the Empty status.

You can use this procedure to set the status of several selected empty kanbans, which have the same ship-to and ship-from locations, to In Transit.

Set kanbans with the status In Work to In Transit , and publish ASN

In the kanban details, you can use the Set Kanban Status to In Transit and Publish ASN function to change the status of one or more selected kanbans from In Work to In Transit . In doing so, you publish the draft ASN that already exists for these kanbans (see above). To use this function, the kanbans and the ASN must meet the following conditions:

The kanbans have the In Work status.

The kanbans belong to the same draft ASN.

The draft ASN does not contain any other kanbans apart from the selected kanbans.

Pack ASN

If required, you can also pack the items of a draft ASN manually or automatically. To do so, call ASN processing for the ASN via ASN .

Cancel ASN

In ASN processing in SAP SNC, you can cancel an ASN with the status Draft or Published. If you cancel a draft ASN, the kanban acquires the Empty status.

Functions for the Customer

Function

Description

Set kanban manually to Full

A kanban with the status In Transit in SAP SNC automatically acquires the status Full , as follows:

You have received the requested kanban quantity and sent a goods receipt message, which refers to the kanban, from your back-end system to SAP SNC . The goods receipt message also updates the ASN in SAP SNC.

You have closed the ASN inSAP SNC

In ASN processing in SAP SNC, you have manually confirmed the complete goods receipt for an ASN.

In the kanban details, you can also manually set the status of a kanban to Full .

Close full kanban

If you no longer require a kanban with the status Full , you can close it. To do so, select the kanban in the kanban details and choose Set Kanban to Closed . The kanban acquires the Closed status.

Delete closed kanbans in SAP SNC

You can delete closed kanbans using the SAP SNC report/SCA/DM_KNBN_DEL_CLOSEDin SAP SNC.

To call the report for online processing, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Supply Network CollaborationReplenishmentKanbanDelete Closed Kanbans

Note:

With the report, you only delete kanbans locally in SAP SNC . SAP SNC does not send the deletion information to your back-end system. To archive kanbans, you use archiving in the back-end system.

If you transfer the master data from the SAP back-end system to SAP SNC and update it regularly, the kanbans that you deleted in the back-end system are also automatically deleted in SAP SNC .

Manually set goods receipt (GR) status for an ASN

In ASN processing in SAP SNC, you can manually confirm the complete goods receipt for an ASN. The kanbans of the ASN acquire the status Full.

Close ASN in SAP SNC

In ASN processing of SAP SNC, you can close ASNs. The kanbans of the ASN acquire the status Full.

Delete ASN

In the SAP SNC system, you can delete ASNs that are no longer required using the/SCA/DLV_DELETEreport.

Corresponding kanbans with the status In Work require the status Empty . Other kanbans acquire the status Full .

Functions for Customer and Supplier

Function

Description

Display forecast delivery schedule

A customer can send a forecast delivery schedule to SAP SNC to inform the supplier of required quantities in advance. To display the forecast delivery schedule, call the release in the release overview, or in the release details of release processing . The kanban indicator in the release header shows that a release in kanban processing is concerned.

Note:In the standard system, you cannot create an ASN for a kanban forecast delivery schedule.

Display kanban request

To display the kanban request for a kanban, choose PO (purchase order) in the kanban details.

Display due kanban requests

If you want to display kanban requests for kanbans with the Empty or In Work status, call the due list for purchasing documents on the Web UI of SAP SNC under Receipts and Requirements .

As supplier, you can create an ASN for an open kanban request in the due list. For more information, see the Functions for the Supplier table.

Display ASNs for a kanban

In the kanban details, select the kanban and choose ASN . SAP SNC displays the last ASN that the supplier has created for a kanban.

As supplier, you can go to change mode and edit (for example pack) and publish the ASN (see the Functions for the Supplier table).

Print kanban card

You can print and configure the kanban card print form per control cycle. To print one or more kanban cards, select the kanbans in the kanban details and choose Print . SAP SNC prints kanban data and a barcode with the kanban ID on the kanban card. If you do not want to use the standard form, you can use the Form Builder to create your own forms and use the BAdI SCA/DM_KANBAN to include these. You can use PDF-based or Smart Form print forms.

You defined the print form type in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration , by choosing Basic Settings Printing Define Print Forms for Kanban Cards.

Notethat you can change the status of a kanban (typically from Full to Empty and vice versa) in the back-end system using the kanban component, by scanning the barcode on the kanban card using a barcode scanner.

You must have implemented SAP Note 877591 in the back-end system to use the kanban cards printed in SAP SNC for this process.

Alternatively, you can use your own form in SAP SNC to print kanban cards. You can print two different barcodes onto the form, for example, which you use to explicitly set the status to Full or Empty . In this case, you do not have to implement SAP Note 877591.

Download kanban details

You can download the kanban details in table format.

Display contact person

In the kanban overview and in the kanban details, you can display contact persons for the selected kanban control cycles, or for the selected kanbans.

Display kanban release

If the control cycle of the kanban is based on a scheduling agreement release you can navigate to the release via the Go to Release button.

If the control cycle is based on another order document, the button remains hidden.

Create notes

You can add notes to kanban control cycles by choosing the Notes button on the Kanban screen.
