The Best Business Practice Templates provide you with a pre-defined industry standard best practice approach to planning. You can choose Cost Method of Accounting or Retail Method of Accounting templates to match your preferred methodology. The major processes include Strategic Planning, Merchandise Planning, Store Planning, and Enterprise Reconciliation. In some cases, planning functions such as copy forecast to plan, are called by pressing a button on the template.

To use the Best Business Practice Templates (BBPTs), the BI content must be installed and activated on the BI system being used.

Hierarchies

The time hierarchy is a virtual hierarchy used for the fiscal year period 0FISCPER3, allowing you to plan on multiple time hierarchies.

You can create a time hierarchy by running the UPARP_CREATE_TIME_HIERARCHY report program, or manually in the RSD1 transaction.

You can create a store hierarchy by running the UPART_STORE HIERARCHY report program, or manually in the RSH1 transaction. For more information about creating hierarchies, see the SAP Merchandise and Assortment Planning Configuration Guide, available in the SAP Service Marketplace.

Master Data

Information must be available in the BI system for the queries to run. The following is a list of the required data:

  1. Master data should be extracted from ERP.

  2. Maintain Article Hierarchy:

    • Maintain 0CM_HIEID with Distribution Channel and Sales Organization

    • Maintain 0CM_MCATDIV for the hierarchy ID

    • Maintain 0CM_CDT1 with Distribution Channel, Sales Organization and Division

    • Maintain 0CM_CDT2 with Distribution Channel, Sales Organization, Division and Category

    • Maintain 0CM_CDT3 with Distribution Channel, Sales Organization, Division, Category and Segment

  3. Maintain Assortment Type (0RT_ASTYP) and Unit Of Measure (0BASE_UOM).

  4. Create Store Hierarchy.

  5. Create Time Hierarchy.

  6. Last Year Sales and Inventory Data must be loaded.

  7. Create the forecasting data using the BI modeler available in transaction RSPLAN. Run the following planning sequences:

    • Strategic: 0RMP_A03_PS_01

    • Merchandise: 0RMP_A04_PS_01

    • Store: 0RMP_A14_PS_01

Customizing for MAP

The following customizing settings must be setup in the BI system:

  1. Set Fiscal Year Variant using transaction OB29.

  2. Maintain IMG activity BW_BCT_RT_MAP.

  3. Maintain the planning cycle using IMG activity BW_BCT_RT_MAP_2.

  4. In the Gross Margin functionality, inventory can be determined within a given period or for the whole year. You set this parameter in customizing under:   SAP NetWeaver   Business Intelligence   Settings for BI Content   Trade Industries   Retailing   Goods and Assortment Planning ->   General Settings
