Procedure

  1. In the Object Manager panel, under the Detail section, choose the Assigned Objects tab.

    The Assigned Objects tab page appears.

  2. Choose Expression from the Type field and choose Create Object.

  3. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, enter the following data:

    • Name

    • Short Text

    • Text

  4. Choose Search Tree from the Type field.

  5. Choose Create & Navigate to Object.

    The search tree opens in the Object Manager panel.

    Note Note

    If you choose Create, the created rule object appears under the Assigned Objects tab.

  6. Assign a result data object to the search tree

    You can create a new data object or select an existing data object as the result data object.

    • Create a New Result Data Object

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose Create Result Data Objects....

      3. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create a data object.

    • Select an Existing Data Object

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose   Select Result Data Objects   More Result Data Objects...  

      3. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select the data object and choose Select .

    Note Note

    To return multiple matched results, select Do you want to return multiple matched results checkbox.

    The assigned result data object should handle multiple results. A table data object should be assigned as a result data object.

  7. Assign a condition to the root node.

    You can create a new expression or select an existing expression.

    This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

    • Create a New Expression

      1. In the context menu of the empty root node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Condition   Create New Expression...  .

      2. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create a new expression.

    • Select an Existing Expression

      1. In the context menu of the empty root node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Condition   Select Existing Expression  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select an expression and choose Select .

  8. Assign a result to the root node.

    You can create a new expression or select an existing expression.

    • Create a New Expression

      1. In the context menu of the root node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Create New Expression...  .

      2. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create an expression.

    • Select an Existing Expression

      1. In the context menu of the created empty root node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Select Existing Expression  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select an expression and choose Select .

  9. Create a child node.

    • In the context menu of the root node, choose   Tree Node   Node operations   Create child node  .

    Note Note

    You have to create all required child nodes before you assign a condition and result to the first created child node.

  10. Assign condition to the child node.

    You can create a new expression or add an existing expression as a condition to the child node.

    • Create a New Expression

      1. In the context menu of the child node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Create New Expression...  .

      2. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create the expression.

    • Select an Existing Expression

      1. In the context menu of the child node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Select Existing Expression  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select the expression and choose Select .

  11. Assign a result to the child node.

    You can create a new expression or select an existing expression.

    • Create a New Expression

      1. In the context menu of the child node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Create a New Expression...  

      2. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create the expression.

      1. In the context menu of the child node, choose   Tree Node   Assign a Result   Select Existing Expression   More Expressions...  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select the expression and choose Select.

  12. Save the expression.
