Use

The master data of this characteristic contains the definition of flex fields you have made in Oracle applications, as well as the assignment of flex field segments for InfoObjects in the SAP BW. Flex field segments and their IDs are extracted from Oracle applications by application and flex field code. The system suggests an assignment for SAP BW InfoObjects (for example, 0ORA_CCTR or 0ORA_ACCNT) for the extraction, providing that flex field segments are labeled using segment attributes (cost center segment or account segment in the accounting flex field, for example). For all other segments, you must manually maintain this assignment for SAP BW InfoObjects in the master data maintenance for this InfoObject.

The system uses the master data for this InfoObject to transfer the flex field segment values into InfoObjects in the update rules for InfoSources that extract data from flex fields.

Caution:

You must load the master data for this InfoObject and, where required, manually maintain the assignment for SAP BW InfoObjects, before loading data for InfoSources that are based on Oracle flex fields. If you do not, characteristics cannot be correctly filled in the data targets.
