Example: Handling Unit Hierarchy

The following table gives an example of a handling unit (HU) hierarchy in the HU – Hierarchical View screen area. The Pack. Level 01 column contains the outer HU with the HU number 0001. The HU number is prefixed by the product number of the packaging material of the HU, WIRE_BASKET (separated by a minus sign). On the next packaging level, the HU contains two HUs with the HU numbers 0002 and 0003. The HU numbers are prefixed by the product number of the packaging material of this HU, LARGE_BOX. On the next packaging level, the HU 0002 contains four HUs with the HU numbers 0004 through 0007. The product number of the packaging material of this HU is SMALL_BOX. On packaging level 4 – the innermost packaging level – each of these HUs contains a brake with the product number BRAKE_L. The product number of the brake is prefixed by the number of the ASN item (0001) that contains the brakes (separated by a minus sign). The product number is followed by the quantity packed in the HU and the unit of measure (one piece), separated in each case by a minus sign.

The HU 0001 is not yet fully packed: The HUs 0008 through 0011 on packaging level 3 do not contain any brakes. The minus sign before the HUs shows that the HU hierarchy is fully expanded.

The following table shows the contents of the hierarchical view if you have collapsed the HU hierarchy of HU 0001 completely. The plus sign before the HU character string shows that the hierarchy is collapsed.

The following table shows a partially collapsed HU hierarchy. The hierarchy of the HU 0002, which already contains the brakes at the innermost packaging level, is collapsed. You can recognize this by the plus sign that prefixes the character string for the HU 0002.
