Consideration of the Packing Capacity During packing, the system automatically takes account of weight and volume-related constraints and requirements for filling a handling unit (HU). These result from the attributes of the packaging material assigned to the HU. The quantity that you can pack in a handling unit depends on the packing capacity of a handling unit and the attributes of the objects to be packed (products or handling units).
You have made the following settings in the product masters of the packaging materials and the products to be packed:
Settings for a product to be packed
In the product master of the product, you have entered the properties of the product (weight, dimensions, and volume) on the
Units of Measure
tab page related to a base unit of measure of the product. If required, you have also defined conversions into other units of measure.

You then chose
Enter
or saved the product master. As a result, the system copies the gross weight and the volume automatically to the
Properties
tab page. (You cannot enter this data manually on the
Properties
tab page.) The system checks the data on the
Packing Data
tab page (see next step) against the gross weight and the volume on the
Properties
tab page.
In the
Capacities
screen area on the
Packaging Data
tab page, you have entered the control data for filling a HU that uses the packaging material. This includes, for example, the maximum weight that can be packed in the HU or the packing volume of the packaging material.
