Planned Cross-Docking
In planned cross-docking, you define in Customizing how the cross-docking process is to proceed. The cross-docking relevance is therefore already defined before stock arrives, and before you post goods receipt or release the outbound delivery.
For example, you can use a transportation cross-docking (TCD) or merchandise distribution.
In the TCD process, you work with cross-docking routes (see Cross-Docking Routes). The routing guide uses these cross-docking routes to decide whether a TCD process would be advantageous. In the case of a TCD, SAP ERP generates a corresponding delivery pair, that is, an inbound delivery and an outbound delivery that contain the same TCD operation number. SAP ERP sends this delivery pair to Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), which executes the TCD process.
