Procedure documentationChecking the Status of Batch TBOMs

If you record a TBOM for an executable that schedules background jobs, check whether errors occur when the TBOM collector was executed. If required, start it manually.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for recording batch TBOMs are fulfilled and you have recorded a batch TBOM. For more information, see Recording Batch TBOMs.

Procedure

  1. In the Test Suite - Test Preparation application, select a solution and branch .

  2. Choose TBOMs and Test Cases.

  3. To display the statuses of batch TBOMs, in the List view, create a filter based on the Batch Job Status attribute.

The status field for the batch TBOM indicates whether the system has already generated all TBOM enhancements for all background jobs. The following statuses are supported:

    • Pending: The background jobs are scheduled and mayhave already been executed, but TBOMs have not yet been generated. This is done during the next TBOM collector run. Wait until the status is Finished.

    • Finished: The background jobs were already executed and the TBOM enhancement has been created.

    • Erroneous: Errors occurred while generating the TBOM enhancement for background jobs (for example, the system could not connect to the managed system).

If the RFC connection didn't work, trigger the batch TBOM collection manually:

      1. In the Solution Documentation view, drill down to the TBOM.

      2. On the Elements of <Executable Name> tab page, choose the TBOM name, to open it.

On the Header Information tab page, the batch TBOM status Erroneous is displayed.

      3. Under Environment, identify the managed system, and log on to it and do one of the following:

        • If there is no RFC connection, resolve the issue.

        • If the RFC connection works, proceed with the next step.

      4. On the Header Information tab page, click the Erroneous status value.

You go the Batch TBOM Status Details screen. In the TBOM Status column, TBOM collectors which could not be executed have the status Error.

      5. Ensure that the background jobs in the managed system have finished. The system can only generate a complete TBOM enhancement when the background jobs have finished.

        1. Choose Refresh.

        2. In the Job Status field, verify that the status is Finished.

      6. To start the TBOM collectors for all batch jobs, in the Start column, choose Start.

To start TBOM collection for failed batch jobs only, select them and chose the Collect TBOM icon.

The TBOM collector collects all used objects from the managed system and creates a TBOM enhancement. Once it has been created, a confirmation message appears.

In other error cases, create the batch TBMOM again.

    • No Batch Jobs: The executable does not trigger a batch job.

If the executable scheduled multiple background jobs while a TBOM enhancement was being recorded, the system creates a separate TBOM enhancement for each background job.

Under TBOM Enhancements, you can check the status for each enhancement. If you choose the status icon in the TBOM Enhancements screen, you display only the details for the background jobs that were scheduled while the enhancement was being recorded.

  4. To check the batch TBOM status details, click the status value or icon.

    The following information is displayed:

    • TBOM Collector Status, Collector: The traffic light and the status in the Collector field indicate the status of the TBOM collector. Click the Collector field to display more information about the TBOM collector.

    • Start: The Start pushbutton is only displayed if the TBOM collector is not currently scheduled and the TBOM enhancements have not yet been fully created. This pushbutton allows you to schedule the TBOM collector with Immediately as the start time. The TBOM collector then runs every five minutes.

    • Stop: The Stop pushbutton is only displayed if the TBOM collector has been scheduled but hat not yet created all TBOM enhancements. This pushbutton can deschedule the TBOM collector so that it no longer runs every five minutes.

    • TBOM Status: Indicates the status of the TBOM creation.

    • Job: Name of the background job in the managed system. Click the Job field to display information about the background job that was scheduled in the managed system.

    • Periodic Job: Indicates whether a background job runs periodically.

    • Job Created by: Name of the user who executed the background job in the managed system.

    • Job Status: Indicates whether the background job has already been executed in the managed system.

    • Start at, End at: Time at which the background job started and finished in the managed system.
