The program Decommisssion Monitoring
deactivates the monitoring of a managed object. Use it if you no longer use a managed object (e.g. a technical system), and you want to be sure that all entries for this object in monitoring, are removed.
This program does this for all monitoring use cases in which an object occurs, so it is more useful than the deletion function in the transaction SOLMAN_SETUP, which only deletes the managed object in the current monitoring used case.
Caution
This program deletes all settings and saved data in monitoring for the managed object. Only use it if you are sure that you no longer need to monitor this object.
To call the Decommisssion Monitoring
program, call the transaction MAI_TOOLS. Go to expert mode, and, in the Configuration
tab, choose Decommisssion Monitoring
.
Select the managed objects whose monitoring you want to deactivate. This selection is not the deactivation, that is the next step. You have the following selection options:
Managed Object ID
Each MO has a 32 character GUID, which is its ID. This ID is, for example, output in logs and error messages.
Managed Object Name
The managed object name is a technical name which is output in the monitoring interface. In System Monitoring, for example, the naming convention for ABAP instances is <system ID>~ABAP~<instance name> (upper-case).
Managed Object Type
There are various types of managed objects, depending on the monitoring use case.
Example
The types in System Monitoring
are Technical Systems
, Hosts
, Technical Instances
, and Databases
.
Once you have specified which objects you want to deactivate, choose the (Execute
) button. These objects are displayed in an ALV grid. The selected objects, and all objects below them in the object hierarchy in a monitoring use case, are displayed.
Example
Search for the technical system with the system ID PRD. This technical system, its databases, instances, and all their hosts, are displayed in the ALV grid.
Perform a (Test Deactivation
) before you deactivate the selected managed objects. After this test, the Status
column indicates whether you can deactivate the object, or whether it is in the object hierarchy of another object which is not to be deactivated.
Note
You want to deactivate the technical system with the ID PRD. On a host in which an instance of this system runs, the status The managed object is still being used and cannot be deleted
is displayed after the test, because instances of anoother technical system are running on this host.
To deactivate the objects whose Description column contains The managed object can be deleted
, choose (Delete
).
