You can create a business transaction of type request for change, IT requirement, or change document, from a project task, and manage the new business transactions in the project.
You can also assign existing requests for change, IT requirements, and change documents, to project tasks.
You can assign change documents of any type to a project task, including independent change documents, which were not createdfrom a request for change or IT requirement.
You have mapped the task types of a project to SAP Solution Manager transaction types (for example ZMCR
or ZMIR
), which you have copied from the original SAP task types SMCR
and SMIR
) in the setup, as described under Setting Up Project Management.
One project task type can be mapped to one business transaction type. In the setup, you can set the indicator for mass assignment of transactions as the default setting. For each task and transaction type, you can define the following:
whether the request for change, IT requirement, or change document is created and synchronized automatically when the task is released
or whether the request for change, IT requirement, or change document is created and synchronized manually, by a button, after the task is released
Start transaction SM_WORKCENTER
and choose .
To create a business transaction, select a project with an assignment to the solution documentation. The project editor opens, and the project is selected in the navigation tree. There is an entry with information about the SAP Solution Manager data, on the Solution Documentation
tab.
Right-click the project or phase in the navigation tree, and choose
.A new entry is created in the navigation tree; you have to maintain at least the name. The task type is optional.
Depending on your setup (see Prerequisites
), the request for change, IT requirement, or change document is created automatically when the task is released. Otherwise you have to create it manually:
Automatic Creation of Transactions
To release the task, go to the Basic Data
tab, choose Release
from the Change status
drop-down box, and save. The request for change, IT requirement or change document is created automatically. Check this by clicking the Transaction
tab. There should be a new entry. For each task, you can connect only one business transaction.
Manual Creation of Transactions
A button appears with which you can create a request for change, IT requirement or change document.
To release the task, go to the Basic Data
tab, choose Release
from the Change Status
drop-down box, and save.
Navigate to the Transaction
tab. To create the request for change, IT requirement or change document, click Create Transaction
. Save the project. An entry with the business transaction appears on the tab. Note that for each task, you can connect only one request for change.
After creation of the business transaction, the tab displays its header information: ID, the description (title), and transaction type. There is also a navigation link to the business transaction.
The project and a link to the project task are added as read-only fields in the transaction, in the Details Assignment
block in the Project Planning
area. You can use one field for the related project and one for the task, to navigate to the task. If a project is locked, all related tasks are also locked.
You can select several business transactions and assign them to newly created tasks by choosing the Create with transaction assignment
button on the Task
tab. The new tasks can be created below a selected project, phase, or task. According to the customizing settings, the new tasks are predefined with the name of the transaction and a task type. The columns Transaction ID
and Transaction Type
show the details of the assigned transactions.
Under Project Planning
, in the Details Assignment
block, the following fields are available to link a business transaction to a project task:
Project Management Project
: the assigned project
Project Management Task
: the assigned project task ID and name
Start Date
: date when the project task starts
Finish Date
: date when the project task ends
Task Duration
: duration of the project task
Estimated Work
: estimation of the time required to realize the project task. This information is synchronized from the task to the business transaction and can only be changed in the task.
Total Work
: the sum of the actual effort recorded on the business transaction, including follow-up transactions, if available. The time recordings are transferred to the project task.
Note
Fields in the Project Planning
area are inactive for dependent change documents that were created from a request for change or IT requirement.
