SAP Solution Manager manages information about hosts in the landscape management database (LMDB).
All host information can be retrieved automatically by outside discovery, using diagnostics agents and host agents on the hosts. Outside discovery is mandatory for all diagnostics applications. For more information, see the information about diagnostics at http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/x/yoEtCg and http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/x/CBkMDg.
Some information about hosts also comes from the system landscape directory (SLD).
Note
Edit host information manually only when the data cannot be synchronized automatically.
SAP Router String data and custom attributes cannot be supplied automatically.
Once data from the SLD and outside discovery is changed manually in the LMDB, it is no longer updated by synchronization. Outside discovery usually overwrites modified host information.
