Process documentationMy Tasks: TBOM Worklist

To use the business process change analyzer (BPCA), technical bills of material (TBOMs) are required. A TBOM contains a list of all objects in an executable entity. The BPCA uses TBOMs to determine whether an executable entity is affected by a change.

A quality expert can delegate the recording of TBOMs to a business process expert or tester, by creating TBOM work items (TBOM recording requests). In the TBOM worklist, the

  • Quality experts monitor the progress of the recording work items they have created.

  • Business process experts get an overview of the work items they are assigned to.

Background: SAP Solution Manager users are often quality experts with SAP Solution Manager knowledge, but with no deep knowledge of the business processes in the solution documentation. They know which TBOMs should be created, but lack the business process knowledge to create them. On the other hand, business process experts have the business process expertise, but lack the SAP Solution Manager knowledge, so TBOM work items bridge the knowledge gap between quality experts and business process experts.

Whenever the status of the recording request changes significantly, the system sends e-mails to the users involved. The e-mails contain a link to a TBOM work item, or to the work item overview.

Process

  1. To request a business process expert to record a TBOM, the quality expert creates a recording work item. For more information, see Delegating TBOM Recording to Business Experts.

  2. The system informs the quality expert and the business process expert about the new work item, by e-mail.

  3. The business process expert records the TBOM.

  4. The system informs the quality expert about the completion of the recording task, by e-mail.

  5. The quality expert verifies that the TBOM has been recorded, and confirms the work item.
