You want to create a transport request in the development system where your software changes have to be recorded.
A task list exists with the status Active
.
You have been assigned the SAP_CM_DEVELOPER_COMP
role or the SAP_CM_OPERATOR_COMP
role in the Solution Manager system.
Note
If you want to create a transport request from within the task list, you must have the SAP_CHANGEMAN_OPERATOR
role in the managed system.
To create a transport request from a change document in the WebClient UI, proceed as follows:
On the Transport Management
assignment block, choose New Transport Request
.
In the dialog window, enter or select the owner of the request you want to create and a short text for the request. You can also add developers to whom you want to assign transport tasks within this request. Select the type of transport request you want to create (workbench or Customizing request for an ABAP system, workbench for non-ABAP systems).
Note
If you do not enter these parameters, a request is created in the managed development system that contains your user as the owner, a single task for your user, and a generated short description.
Caution
Strategy for User Collaboration in Non-ABAP Development
In case of non-ABAP developments, you can have only one modifiable transport request per change document. This is necessary to ensure consistency in software distribution. Also, in non-ABAP developments, you cannot create tasks under a transport request. As a solution, you can do the following: If you need to collaborate with other non-ABAP developers in the same transport request, preselect all developers involved to enable them to use this particular transport request. This is the only way to guarantee that non-ABAP content is transported in the correct order and to avoid downgrade.
To do so, proceed as follows:
Call transaction STMS
On the upper menu bar, choose the Transport Organizer Web UI
icon.
Enter the name of the system.
Select the transport request for which user preselection is needed.
In the Details of Transport Request
screen section, choose the Preselection
tab page.
Choose Add Row
and / or Search & Add User(s)
to add the names of the preselected users.
Save your entries.
To create a transport request from within a task list, proceed as follows:
In the administration cockpit, choose Task Lists
.
Choose the desired change cycle type.
Note
You can create transport requests from phase cycles and from urgent changes.
The system displays a list of the task lists with the status Active
(default setting). To select or activate task lists with other statuses, see Changing the Status of Task Lists.
Click the track for which you need to create a new transport request.
Under the task node of the development system, select Create Transport Request
and start the action by choosing Execute
.
On the screen that appears, enter or select the owner of the request you want to create and a short text for the request.
After the transport request has been created, the task list for the continual cycle is displayed again.
Check the status of your task. If you need more information about the task, check the application log in the Daily overview
of the task list.
Caution
In case of non-ABAP developments, see the Strategy for User Collaboration in Non-ABAP Development in the Creating Transport Requests from a Task List
section.
In the selected development system, a transport request (a workbench or a Customizing request) is created for the specified owner and developers.
Note
In the case of urgent changes, only one open workbench and one open Customizing request are permitted at any time.
The created transport requests are connected to the CTS project created from the change cycle used in the change document and the task list. The transport requests are provided with the transport request attributes SAP_CTS_PROJECT
(which contains the CTS project ID) and SAP_TMWFLOW
(which contains the task list ID of your task list).
