Procedure documentationPerforming a Self-Diagnosis

 

You use this procedure to determine and solve runtime or configuration errors, across SAP Solution Manager components such as functions, and managed systems, by executing alert checks.

Procedure

  1. Start the Launchpad, and in the group SAP Solution Manager Administration, choose the tile Self-Diagnosis - SAP Solution Manager.

  2. Perform one of the following:

Specifying Scope of Analysis
  1. To define the scope of analysis, choose the Self-Diagnosis Settings button.

    Note that if you choose the Expert mode, four tab pages are displayed. They are:

    • Managed Systems

    • SAP Solution Manager

    • Alert Checks

    • Functions

    In the Standard mode, Managed Systems and SAP Solution Manager tab pages are displayed.

  2. To select the required alerts and functions, perform one or more of the following steps:

    • On the Alert Checks tab page, select and activate the necessary alerts. When you activate a Solution Manager alert, all the related functions also gets activated. If you activate a managed system alert, all the related functions and managed systems also get activated. You can uncheck the functions, alerts, or managed systems that are not necessary on the SAP Solution Manager tab page, Managed Systems tab page, or Functions tab page respectively and choose Save.

    • To select the functions to be diagnosed, on the Functions tab page, select and activate the relevant functions. If you want to diagnose multiple functions, select the required functions and choose the Execute Selected Functions button. When you activate a function, all the related SAP Solution Manager alerts and managed systems’ alerts get activated. The managed systems related to the activated managed system alerts also get activated. On the Managed Systems tab, you can unselect the alerts or managed systems that are not relevant and choose Save.

    • To select the SAP Solution Manager to be analyzed, on the SAP Solution Manager tab page, select and activate the relevant alerts.

      When you activate a Solution Manager alert on the SAP Solution Manager tab page, all the related functions are automatically activated. You can view the related functions on the Related Functions tab page. On the Functions tab page, the same setting for the checks is reflected. You can uncheck the function that are not necessary and choose Save.

    • To select the managed systems to be analyzed, choose the Managed Systems tab page.

      When you select a managed system on the Managed Systems tab page and activate it, all the alerts and functions associated are automatically activated. You can uncheck the alerts that are not necessary and choose Save. On the Functions tab page, you can uncheck the functions that are not necessary.

  3. Save the information, and return to the initial screen of Self-Diagnosis.

  4. Choose Execute Allto start Self-Diagnosis.

Recommendation Recommendation

  • To prevent self-diagnosis displaying alerts for functions, SAP Solution Manager or managed systems, which you do not use, deselect them in the Functions, Managed Systems, or SAP Solution Manager tab page respectively.

  • To transfer the service delivery readiness check to the Solution Manger System, select the Transfer Service Delivery Readiness Checks to SAP check box the Function tab page under Service Delivery Readiness. For this step to run successfully, the connection to the support hub channel to use the support hub API must be successfully configured. You can configure this in Solution Manager configuration work center underStart of the navigation path  System Preparation Next navigation step Set up Connections Next navigation step Support Hub Connectivity End of the navigation path.

Analyzing a Function
  1. Choose the Functions view.

  2. Select a function or functions for which alerts need to be resolved.

  3. To solve the problems indicated by the alerts, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.

  4. To perform an analysis after resolving alerts, choose the Execute Selected functions button or the Execute All button.

Analyzing SAP Solution Manager
  1. Choose the SAP Solution Manager view.

  2. Select an alert that needs to be resolved.

  3. To solve the problems indicated by the alert, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.

  4. To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose the Execute All button.

Analyzing a Managed System
  1. Choose the Managed Systems view.

  2. Select a managed system for which an alert needs to be resolved.

  3. To solve the problems indicated by alerts, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.

  4. To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose Execute All.

Result

After solving the problem, the status of the function, SAP Solution Manager, managed system or alert check is uncritical.
