The E2E Monitoring and Alerting Infrastructure (MAI) displays the performance and status of managed objects in complex, heterogeneous landscapes, centrally, in the System & Application Monitoring
work center. There are various monitoring use cases, including System Monitoring
, which monitors the status and performance of technical systems, technical instances, hosts and databases, in the SAP Solution Manager system landscape.
The work center for experts displays a lot of managed system metrics, events and alerts. This is sometime a little unclear, particularly if you initially only need a few metrics and events.
This app displays a metric or event, such as the availability of your most important ABAP systems, for managed objects.
Note
As the display and configuration of metrics and events are nearly identical in this app, they are both referred to as elements here, where information applies to both metrics and events.
There are selectable elements for the following topics in this app :
Available space in the file system for various database types
Availability of technical instances, technical systems, and databases
CPU usage, memory space, file system and paging rate for hosts
Response times, status and usage of dialog system, for technical systems and instances
Status, usage and errors in background processing for technical systems
ABAP run-time error status
Number of users logged on, per system and instance
All elements delivered by SAP which you can display in this app are from System Monitoring
, and are one of the following types of managed objects:
Technical system
Technical instance
Host
Database
Note
You can extend the set of selectable elements (see Extend Set of Selectable Metrics) beyond System Monitoring
.
You can display the values of between one selected element and nine managed objects, in the app. Make the selection in the configuration app (see Configure App: A Metric for Several Managed Objects).
Note
There is also an analogous app, with which you can display up to nine elements for a selected managed object (see App: Several metrics for one managed object).
The app displays the name and technical name of the element. You can see its description with the blue icon with the white i.
The selected managed objects are displayed in a table. The following information is displayed:
Column | Meaning |
---|---|
| Managed Object Name |
| For a metric, its value and status, as provided by MAI, are displayed. Depending on the threshold settings of the metric, this can be a mean value or a rating. You can display this setting in the For an event, only the status (red, yellow or green) and the text |
