Smart View
is a detail view of Dashboard Builder, which provides you with a multitude of options for analyzing the data displayed in the associated tile in more detail, for example, perform a drill down, or set additional filters. Compared with the detail view Generic Analytics Application
, the Smart View
has the advantage that you can use it for more than just the data source type BW Query
; you also have more flexibility regarding the visualization of the measured values.
You can set filters in the settings for the detail view and by clicking on a certain data point in the actual tile; further information on the chosen data point is then displayed in the detail view. You can also save different display settings in various versions.
Note
The detail views are assigned in the tile configuration (see Creating and Editing Tiles), whereby no additional settings are required for the detail view when assigning the Smart View
. This section describes the usage of the detail view for the end user, meaning which options you have for adjusting the view to suit your specific requirements in view mode of Dashboard Builder.
The detail view is always called whenever you click on the associated tile in Dashboard Builder. The tile must thereby be configured in such a way that it has the entry Smart View
in the Detail Page Template
(see Creating and Editing Tiles).
Note
The functions described below are available to you in both configuration mode and view mode of Dashboard Builder. Furthermore, in configuration mode, you can determine the default view and set filters that are always to be active. You access the configuration by calling the detail view Smart View
in the configuration mode of Dashboard Builder and choosing the Configure Smart View
pushbutton.
You have the following functions available in the Smart View
display:
After calling the Smart View
the displayed variant and the active filters are displayed in the header area of the screen. If you have not yet created a variant, only the entry Default
is displayed in this dropdown list box. Choose the Filter
pushbutton to filter by values of the available fields of the data source.
You can also save such filter settings as a variant by choosing the Select Variant
pushbutton in the header row to the right of the active variant, and choosing the Save As
pushbutton. On the Save Variant
screen, you thereby specify the following properties of the variant in addition to the filter settings:
Name
under which the variant in the dropdown list box of variants is displayed in the header row.
You can choose Set as Default
for the variant; it is thereby called directly when the Smart View
is called.
A variant has the type Private
by default; this means it is only visible to the user who created the variant. However, you can also make the variant visible to all users by choosing the Release
indicator.
Note
You can only set this property the first time the variant is saved; it is not possible to change this later on.
You can specify whether the variant is run automatically after being selected from the dropdown list box. If you do not set the corresponding Run on Selection
indicator, choose the Start
pushbutton after selecting the variant.
Note
You can change these properties of the various variants later on by choosing the Manage
pushbutton in the dropdown list box of the variants.
On the detail page Smart View
, you can output the values to be displayed as a table or a chart. In both visualizations you can specify details for the display by choosing the Settings
pushbutton (there is a cog icon on the pushbutton). Depending on whether you display the measured values as a table or chart, you have the following display options available in Settings
:
Table
Tab | Related Settings Options |
---|---|
| You specify which dimensions and measured values are to be displayed in the table columns. |
| You specify how the table rows are to be sorted. |
| You specify which additional filters are to be applied in the table. |
| You can specify the dimensions whose values are used to group the display of the table. Then, in the table, all measured values are output in a hierarchical table by the specified dimensions. |
You can also use drag and drop to adjust the sequence of the columns to suit your requirements.
Chart
Tab | Related Settings Options |
---|---|
| You can select the type of the chart from an extensive selection. Furthermore, you specify which dimensions and measured values are displayed as an axis or category in the chart. You can also use the sort buttons |
| You specify how the dimensions and measured values are to be sorted in the chart. |
| You specify which additional filters are to be applied in the chart. You can explicitly include and exclude values. |
Note
You can save these visualization settings as a variant in the same way as above (separated for table and chart).
