Function documentationUsage of the Detail View "Generic Analytics Application"

The generic analytics application is a detail view of Dashboard Builder, which provides you with options for analyzing the data displayed in the associated tile in more detail, for example, perform a drill down, or set additional filters. The application is possible as a detail view for all tiles whose data is supplied via a BW query. It gives you the option of creating any drilldowns and filters from the query's fields and outputting these visualizations as both a table and a chart.

Note Note

The detail views are assigned in the tile configuration (see Creating and Editing Tiles), whereby no additional settings are required for the detail view when assigning the Generic Analytics Application. This section describes the usage of the detail view for the end user, meaning which options you have for adjusting the view to suit your specific requirements in view mode of Dashboard Builder.

End of the note.

Activities

The detail view is always called whenever you click on the associated tile in Dashboard Builder. The tile must thereby be configured in such a way that it has the entry Generic Analytics Application in the Detail Page Template (see Creating and Editing Tiles).

The display of the generic analytics application provides you with the following functions in both configuration mode and view mode of Dashboard Builder:

Settings for Display in the Navigation Area

The BW query used and the configuration settings for the tile in Dashboard Builder determine the Rows, Columns, and the Available Fields. These are displayed in the Navigation Area of the detail view.

You can now use drag and drop to move the various dimensions between the rows, columns, and available fields until the display in the table suits your requirements. You also have the following pushbuttons available in front of each dimension:

  • Add Field to Column Axis

  • Remove Field from Column Axis

  • Add Field to Row Axis

  • Remove Field from Row Axis

Note Note

By default, the display is updated immediately each time a dimension is moved. However, you can make changes to the settings so that the display is updated only when explicitly desired. To do so, choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Defer Layout Update End of the navigation path from the dropdown list box in the navigation area; then the layout is updated only when you choose the newly displayed Update pushbutton.

You can also choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Display Filter End of the navigation path in the navigation area to display the Filter pushbutton in front of each dimension. Choose this pushbutton to define filter values for the related dimension.

End of the note.
Adjustments to the Display in the DataGrid

To the right of the navigation area, the fields selected in the navigation area are displayed in a table in the DataGrid. You also have a multitude of functions available to adjust the display here. These are self-explanatory for the most part, in particular since changes to the chosen display options are displayed immediately. For this reason, only the fundamental options in the DataGrid display are mentioned here briefly.

Note Note

Each of the functions refer to the selected dimension.
