You create a job request when you want to schedule a new job.
In the Job Management
work center, under Common Tasks
, choose Create Basic Job Request
.
The Job Request
form appears.
Choose the request type Request: Create New Job
.
Enter a name for the job you wish to create. You can use the Check
feature to ensure that the name follows the suggested naming convention.
Note
To base your job request on the data from existing job documentation, use the input help to search for and select the job documentation. The system will load its details into the current form, which you can then edit.
Optionally, you can enter a tag or select a tag that has been used already. Tags provide a simple way to label job requests and job documentation. You can search for tagged objects using Quick Criteria Maintenance and the Quick Search box.
Select a system and a client. You can use the input help or make the entries directly.
Note
If you have selected existing job documentation, the input help only displays the corresponding systems and clients.
Specify the date until which the job request is to be valid.
If desired, you can specify job steps. For each step you add, you must specify a description and a command or report.
Under Schedule
, enter the job scheduling information:
Repeat: Specify whether the job is to run once (ad hoc) or periodically. For periodic jobs, specify the interval.
Frequency: Specify the frequency of the interval.
Planned Start Date
Optionally, you can enter the planned start time and last permissible start date and time for the job, as well as free text details about the start condition.
Under Business Context
, you must enter text descriptions of the business requirements (for example, why you are scheduling a job) and the business process. The other entries (Region, Country Code, Organization, Business Area, and Business Priority) are optional.
Under Request Overview
, specify the following:
Transaction type and categories for the job request.
The transaction type determines whether your job request is submitted as an incident or a request for change in the IT Service Management WebClient UI.
You can specify up to four category levels to assign to the transaction.
Message priority.
Short and long text explanation of your request.
Business partner of the reporter, and, optionally, the processor and sold-to-party.
You can use the input help or you can enter the business partner directly and then press ENTER. The system displays the associated contact information.
Note
The selected system determines which business partners are listed in the input help, so be sure to select the system before you specify the business partner.
Submit the job request.
In the Job Management
work center, under Common Tasks
, choose Create Detailed Job Request
.
The Job Request
form appears.
Choose the request type Request: Create New Job
.
The following table explains what information you can provide on each of the tab pages of the detailed job request form. The job request form has a structure similar to the job documentation, so when the job request is approved, the information you provide in the job request can be copied to the job documentation.
