Managing Logical Component Groups
Logical components describe a group the technical systems that provide one functionality in different roles. The information is used in the Solution Documentation.
A logical component is one "path" of technical systems and their roles, for example, development, test, and production system. It is typically following the transport routes and contains the systems for a maintenance-to-production route or a development-to-quality-assurance route. Technical systems in a logical component are supposed to be synchronized during change processes, for example development, test and production system.
A logical component group bundles all logical components for maintenance-to-production and development that are related to the same production system. It covers, for example, all ERP systems or all CRM systems of the solution. They form the link between the business perspective and technical perspective of a landscape and interconnect technical system landscape and planning landscape. Other than in SAP Solution Manager 7.1, a logical component group belongs to only one solution.
For the migration of you solution landscape from SAP Solution Manager 7.1 to 7.2, see the Solution Documentation Content Activation Guide
at http://service.sap.com/instguides
.
You assign and create logical component groups in the Solution Documentation (transaction SLAN
).
You can display all logical component groups under transaction SM_WORKCENTER
.
Before the migration, logical components are display only. The content activation of the solution documentation includes logical components that were previously created or changed by a user in transactions SMSY or LMDB.
This step must be prepared before the actual technical upgrade to SAO Solution Manager 7.2, with transaction PREPARE_ACTIVATION
for the solution documentation. Implement SAP Note 2045230
to import the transaction to your 7.1 system.
For more information, see the content activation guide at https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/012002523100011391702015E
.
The migration covers the following data:
Migration from product systems to technical systems
Creation of new solutions based logical component groups and logical components.
New assignments of technical systems to the solutions, branches (such as production, maintenance, and development), and system roles
Logical component assignments with their usages, for example in the solution documentation, test repository, and job scheduling management.
In transaction SOLADM
, you can create and delete logical component groups and logical components of a solution.
You can change the assignments of logical components to technical systems in transaction LMDB
.
For more information, see the documentation that is provided in the UI.
The following system roles are predefined by SAP:
Quality Assurance System Testing Production System Leading system role in operational processing for system and business process monitoring. EarlyWatch alerts are supported for all system roles. Training System Training Demo System Demonstration SAP Reference System Reference
System Role | Use |
Evaluation system | Business Blueprint |
Development system | Configuration, upgrade |
Quality assurance system | Testing |
Production system | Leading system role in operational processing for system and business process monitoring. EarlyWatch alerts are supported for all system roles. |
Training system | Training |
Demo system | Demonstration |
SAP Reference system | Reference |
In addition to the predefined SAP system roles, you can define your own system roles. In the editor for logical components, select a logical component group for editing on the Logical Component Groups tab. Select a logical component from the navigation tree. For each technical system of a logical component, you can choose Maintain Roles to edit the roles. (Roles predefined by SAP cannot be changed.)
