Procedure documentationChecking the Status of a Batch TBOM

If you record a TBOM for an executable that schedules background jobs, you can use the procedure outlined below to check the status of the TBOM recording.

Procedure

  1. Open the attributes of the executable entity whose TBOM you wish to check.

  2. Choose the TBOM tab.

The status field for the batch TBOM indicates whether the system has already generated all enhancements for all background jobs. The supported statuses are as follows:

    • Green flag: The background jobs were already executed and the TBOM enhancement was created.

    • White flag: The background jobs are scheduled and have possibly already been executed, but TBOMs have not yet been generated. This takes place during the next TBOM collector run.

    • Red flag: Errors occurred while the TBOM enhancement was generated for background jobs (for example, the system could not connect to the managed system).

If the executable scheduled multiple background jobs while a TBOM enhancement was being recorded, the system creates a separate TBOM enhancement for each background job.

If you select the flag icon directly on the TBOM tab, you can display the details for all background jobs that were scheduled while all enhancements were being recorded.

Under Enhancements, you can check the status for each enhancement. If you choose the flag icon in the Enhancements dialog box, you display only the details for the background jobs that were scheduled while the enhancement in question was being recorded.

  3. Choose the flag icon.

A dialog box with the status details for the batch TBOM appears.

  4. Choose Update.

This dialog box allows you to check the following information:

    • TBOM Collector Status, Collector: The traffic light and the status in the Collector field indicate the status of the TBOM collector. Click the Collector field to display more information about the TBOM collector.

    • Start: The Start pushbutton is only displayed if the TBOM collector is not currently scheduled and the TBOM enhancements have not yet been fully created. This pushbutton allows you to schedule the TBOM collector with Immediately as the start time. The TBOM collector is then restarted every five minutes.

    • Stop: The Stop pushbutton is only displayed if the TBOM collector has been scheduled but hat not yet created all TBOM enhancements. You can use this pushbutton to deschedule the TBOM collector so that it is no longer executed every five minutes.

    • TBOM Status: Indicates the status of the TBOM creation.

    • Job: Name of the background job in the managed system. Click the Job field to display information about the background job that was scheduled in the managed system.

    • Periodic Job: Indicates whether a background job is called periodically.

    • Job Created by: Name of the user who executed the background job in the managed system.

    • Job Status: Indicates whether the background job was already executed in the managed system.

    • Start at, End at: Time at which the background job started and finished in the managed system.

  5. If you stopped TBOM collection by choosing Stop, you can start it again manually by choosing Collect TBOM.

  1. Select the stopped background jobs for which you want to manually collect TBOMs.

  2. Choose Collect TBOM to collect objects that were already recorded for background jobs.

    Note Note

If required, you can log on to the managed system manually from here.

    End of the note.

    Note Note

Ensure that the background jobs in the managed system have completed. To do this, refresh the dialog box and check the Job Status field. The system can only generate a complete TBOM enhancement when the background jobs have finished.

    End of the note.

The TBOM collector then collects all used objects from the managed system and creates a TBOM enhancement. Once this has been created successfully, a confirmation message appears.
