Function documentationSelf-Diagnosis

You use Self Diagnosis to determine runtime or configuration errors, across SAP Solution Manager components, such as functions, solutions and managed systems, by executing alert checks. Alert checks raise alerts and provide diagnosis instructions to solve the problem indicated by them.

The following background jobs run periodically by default to, execute alert checks on various components:

  • SM:SELFDIAGNOSIS: Runs daily. Executes alert checks only for functions and solutions that are active in Self-Diagnosis settings.

  • SM:SELFDIAGNOSISSELFCHECK: Runs weekly. Executes alert checks only for managed systems that are active in Self-Diagnosis settings. Alert checks executed for managed systems are applicable only for RCA (Root Cause Analysis).

  • SM:SELF_DIAGNOSIS_SEND_TO_SAP: Runs monthly. Sends data from Self-Diagnosis application on your SAP Solution Manager system to SAP CSS system.

You can also perform an analysis manually, at any time. For example, you can run the daily Self-Diagnosis job, to check whether a problem indicated by alerts in the previous analysis has been resolved.

Self-Diagnosis displays alerts resulting from an analysis, in various levels of detail:

  • Solution-Specific Alerts: alerts specific to one solution.

For example, to check if master data of a solution is consistent.

  • SAP Solution Manager Alerts: alerts specific to Solution Manager system or several solutions.

For example, if there are problems that affect all solutions.

  • Managed Systems Alerts: Alerts specific to managed systems within a solution.

For example, to check whether your user has authorization to access managed system.
