 Create Business Blueprint Document

Use

Once you have created your Business Blueprint (project structure, documentation, transaction assignments), you can create the Business Blueprint document for approval or further use.

In a template project, you can embed the documentation as general or project. You can integrate general documentation into the Business Blueprints, for example to deliver it in a global rollout.

You can only put the project documentation in the Business Blueprint document for the other project types, such as implementation projects.

Prerequisites

  • You have adjusted the layout of the document to be generated to your requirements, in Document Management in SAP Solution Manager customizing, if required (see Adjusting the Layout , below).

  • You have created an implementation project (transaction code SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, see Project Administration )

  • You have selected the sczenarios to be configured (transaction code SOLAR01)

Procedure

  1. Start the Business Blueprint transaction ( transaction code SOLAR01) .

  2. Choose your project.

  3. Select Start of the navigation path Business Blueprint Next navigation step CreateBlueprint Document End of the navigation path .

You go to the Blueprint Document: Selection for Project xxx dialog box.

  4. Choose what is to be in the Business Blueprint document:

You can specify the following in the General tab:

In a template project, you can specify whether the documentation is to be copied from the General Documentation or the Project Documentation tab. For other project types, the system only copies the project documentation in the Blueprint document.

For the graphics in the Component View tab, you can specify whether scenario and business process graphics are to be copied.

For links, you can specify for projects and solutions, whether links to other projects or solutions are to be resolved. If you set the Original in Project/Solution , the objects are copied into the blueprint document.

If you set the Business Function Scope flag, information about business functions assigned to the project is copied.

The download directory is where the blueprint document to be created is saved. The system also loads all documents which are to be put in the Blueprint document, into this directory.

In the Scope tab, you can specify which structure elements and documents are to be put in the configuration guide. If you set the Only with Documents flag, only structure element to which documents are assigned, are copied. You can restrict the scope, for example to a logical component, employee, or documentation type. With Structure , you can call the Select Substructure dialog box, and select the structure elements.

    Caution Caution

The system only puts structure element documents in the Business Blueprint document which you have selected explicitly, and its sub-structure elements . The system only puts the higher-level structure elements in the Business Blueprint document, but not their documents (quick info Node Selected Automatically ).

To put documents of higher-level structure elements into the Business Blueprint document, choose the higher-level structure elements explicitly (quick info Nodes Selected Manually ).

    End of the caution.

In the Display Options tab, you can specify which structure element and document information is copied into the blueprint document and displayed. This can be structure element and document details, such as document name and person responsible. The Insert Link flag specifies that repeatedly used documents, or documents repeatedly embedded in the same blueprint document, are linked to.

  5. Choose Execute .

If there are already files in the selected download directory, the system warns you that they will be deleted. You can choose another download directory. To continue to create the blueprint document, choose Continue .

When all files have been downloaded, the system sends a message which specifies the download directory again.

  6. Choose Continue .

If the text processing program MS Office Word is installed on the computer, it is started with the file solarblueprint.doc.

  7. Start the MS Office Word macro SAP_BUSINESS_BLUEPRINT.

The macro creates the Business Blueprint document for your project.

    Note Note

To make this Business Blueprint document generally available in the SAP Solution Manager, upload it with Upload in the Project Documentation tab. Set the document to Not Business Blueprint Relevant to ensure that it is not included in the next Business Blueprint document.

    End of the note.
Adjust the Layout

The system uses the following three files to create the blueprint document:

  • blue.ini

  • solarblueprint.doc

  • solarblueprint.dot

You can adjust these three files to your requirements in SAP Solution Manager Customizing. Choose the path: Start of the navigation path SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Technical Settings Next navigation step Document Management Next navigation step Generate Documents Next navigation step Adjust Business Blueprint Document Generation Template Files End of the navigation path . For more information, see the IMG documentation.

Embedding Files

The following file types are embedded in the blueprint document:

  • DOC: MS Word

  • RTF: MS Rich Text Format

  • TXT: Text

  • XLS: MS Excel

  • PPT: MS Powerpoint

  • VSD: MS Visio

  • HTM: (HTML) Hypertext Markup Language

The programs for these files must be installed in the front-end computer. If this is not the case, the system creates hyperlinks to the files. For other file types, such as PDF (Portable Document Format), the system always creates hyperlinks. See SAP note 777089.

If you create a blueprint document, and the system creates a hyperlink to the file instead of embedding an MS Excel file, see SAP Note 1532866.
