Job Scheduling Management

Function

Type of Change

Description

More Information

Central Job Overview

New

If you use an external scheduler to schedule jobs, the job information is only available in the external scheduler. The Central Job Overview allows business users and IT administrators to select and view job data over the complete lifecycle, similar to the Job Overview (transaction SM37). The end user does not have to know any technical details about the external scheduler.

If the job is part of a job chain, hierarchical job chain information is also displayed. You can drill down to detailed information about any job in the chain.

To provide this overview, data is collected directly from the managed system and the external scheduler.

Note Note

SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood (SAP CPS)/ SAP Business Process Automation by Redwood (SAP BPA) is supported for the central job overview by default. Other external schedulers may be connected on a project basis.

End of the note.

Job Monitoring

Enhanced

A flexible new monitoring configuration for SMSE jobs allows you to add externally managed jobs and job chains (by header) as monitoring objects.

Data is pulled from the external scheduler by means of a remote database connection.

For active monitoring objects, you can view job details per job instance, including the job chain hierarchy (if applicable), in the job monitor.

Note Note

SAP Central Process Scheduling (SAP CPS)/SAP Business Process Automation (SAP BPA), is supported for SMSE job monitoring by default. Other SMSE-certified external schedulers may be connected on a project basis.

End of the note.
