Procedure documentationManaging Problem Analysis

 

You use this procedure to enable SAP Solution Manager to retrieve and store detailed information regarding the current status of a managed system, at regular time intervals. You use this detailed information to analyze the current status of a managed system or instance, if there is no improvement in the status.

Prerequisites

You have configured Technical Monitoring using the transaction SOLMAN_SETUP.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Technical Monitoring work center.

2. Configure Problem Analysis
  1. To configure problem analysis from Alert Inbox, perform the following:

    1. In the navigation area, choose Alert Inbox.

    2. Select an alert relevant to the technical system or instance to be analyzed.

    3. Choose Start of the navigation path Problem Analysis Next navigation step Configure End of the navigation path.

  2. To configure problem analysis from System Monitoring, perform the following:

    1. In the navigation area, choose System Monitoring.

    2. Navigate to the graphical view of system hierarchy.

    3. In the list box of the monitored object, choose Configure Problem Analysis.

  3. In the Problem Analysis Configuration window, select the managed objects to be analyzed.

  4. In the Problem Analysis tab page, select the required problem analysis for data retrieval.

  5. In the Time Setting tab page, select the duration for retrieving and maintaining data.

3. View Problem Analysis
  1. To display the problem analysis from Alert Inbox, perform the following:

    1. In the navigation area, choose Alert Inbox.

    2. Select an alert relevant to the technical system or instance to be analyzed.

    3. Choose Start of the navigation path Problem analysis Next navigation step Display End of the navigation path.

  2. To display problem analysis from System Monitoring, perform the following:

    1. In the navigation area, choose System Monitoring.

    2. Navigate to the graphical view of system hierarchy.

    3. In the list box of the monitored object, choose Display Problem analysis.

  3. In the Problem analysis Display window, select the problem analysis to be analyzed.
