Component documentationDashboards and Dashboard Apps

Dashboards can display large amounts of information in a concise form, to give you a quick overview of its topics. SAP provides a dashboard framework in SAP Solution Manager. These dashboards comprise several apps which each output information and process an aspect of the topic.

SAP delivers dashboards and apps about various topics, in various work centers. You can use the framework, adjust the delivered apps to your requirements, or create your own apps and register them in the dashboard framework.

The Dashboard Framework user interface comprises three main components:

  • Dashboards

A dashboard can, for example, be called directly from a work center. The dashboard displays small images of its apps in a screen. Choose one to expand it. You can configure a dashboard by adding additional apps, changing the order of the apps, or removing apps that you do not require (see Configuring Dashboards).

  • Dashboard Apps

Apps output information. All relevant information of an app is visible without further user input.

  • Configuration apps

Most delivered apps have a configuration app, with which you can adjust it to your requirements, for example to specify headers or other texts to be displayed, or to change the app data.

Apart from using and configuring the dashboards and apps delivered by SAP, you can also change the layout of existing apps, or create your own apps and register them in the Dashboard Framework. The SAP Business Warehouse is the source of the data for most dashboards, but you can also provide the data required at a BAdI interface. You create the user interface of the apps with the program Dashboard and Presentation Design (Xcelsius) , an SAP BusinessObjects product. For more information about creating your own apps, see Enhancing the Dashboard Framework with Your Own Apps.

Integration

Dashboards do not need to be specially set up. The associated application must be configured to collect the data to be displayed by the apps.

Example Example

The End User Experience Monitoring and Alert Management Reporting dashboards use the monitoring and alerting infrastructure data in the Business Warehouse. For these apps, in SAP Solution Manager setup (transaction SOLMAN_SETUP), you must have performed Start of the navigation path Technical Monitoring Next navigation step End User Experience End of the navigation path.

End of the example.

The following dashboard apps are available to you also in the iPad app SAP Solution Manager Dashboards:
