Procedure documentationCreating Tasks

 

You use this procedure to create tasks for managed objects such as, technical systems, hosts, and databases. You can create guided procedure-based tasks and simple tasks.

Prerequisites

  • You have SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP 10 or higher.

  • You have performed the configuration steps described in SAP Note 1825634.

  • You have a valid business partner ID.

  • You have the role SAP_TASK_PLANNING_ALL.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Technical Administration work center.

  2. Choose IT Task Management.

  3. Select IT Task Planning, embedded, or in a new window.

  4. Choose the Plan pushbutton and select, the planning mode to create tasks, from the drop-down list.

    The following table helps you determine the planning mode to use, depending on the use case.

    Guided Procedure(Standard)

    If you want to plan one or more guided procedures at a time

    If you want all steps of the guided procedure to be executed for the same managed object or set of managed objects.

    If you want all the activities of the guided procedure to be executed by the same team or same processor

    Guided Procedure(Expert)

    If you want to plan one guided procedure at a time

    If you want different steps of the guided procedure to be executed for different managed objects

    If you want different activities of the guided procedure to be executed by different teams or different processors.

    Simple Task

    If you want to create a task that involves executing only a single step or an activity, quickly

  5. When you have created the task, save your entries.

  6. To display the recently planned guided procedures and tasks, return to the IT task planning window and choose Refresh.

    To view all tasks, centrally, in IT Task Inbox, choose Show Task Instances.
