Background documentationCopying Configuration Contents from Solution Packages

Using a template in SAP Solution Manager, you can use the SAP Best Practices Solution Builder to assign the imported business processes to preconfigured Business Content in the structure hierarchy. To do this, use the building block principle, for example to select configuration content that exactly meets your needs.

Note Note

Remember that the names in SAP Best Practices Solution Builder differ from those in SAP Solution Manager:

Features

Overview of Solution Packages

In Project Administration, you can display the list of available solution packages and expand it under Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Solution Packages End of the navigation path.

You have the option of creating documents and assigning them to the Solution Packages (see Editing Documents). The where-used list gives you an overview of the templates and the business processes to which the solution package is assigned.

Assignment of Solution Packages

You can assign a solution package to several templates. Multiple usage within the same template project is possible.

In the Business Blueprint, you assign the solution package to a suitable business process node, if the business process is also an element of the template.

Selecting Configuration Content for Solution Packages in SAP Best Practices Solution Builder

You import the structure hierarchy of the template from the SAP Solution Manager system, by creating a solution based on the template in SAP Best Practices Solution Builder. In the scenario view, you can select the business content (e.g. implementation tasks, configuration content) in the form of building blocks and assign it to the scenarios that correspond to your business processes.

Transferring Business Content into the SAP Solution Manager Project

You can transfer the assigned business content back to the template. The business content of the respective business processes appears on the Configuration tab page in SAP Solution Manager.

Process

  1. You create a template project in the SAP Solution Manager system in Project Administration. You create a template on the Templates tab page.

  2. Assign possible solution packages to the template.

  3. In the structure hierarchy, you assign solution packages to the business processes defined in the template.

  4. In the Solution Builder system, call the transaction n/SMB/BBI auf.

  5. Using SAP Solution Manager Integration in the Solution Editor, create a new solution and import the structure hierarchy and the project landscape data of the template defined beforehand from the SAP Solution Manager system.

Your defined business processes are visible in SAP Best Practices Solution Builder at scenario level.

  6. Select a scenario and enhance it by dragging and dropping building blocks containing suitable business content from the library.

  7. In the Building Block Builder, you can enhance an existing building block with a new task (for example, with an eCATT or a BC Set).

  8. In Solution Editor perform a comparison of the logical components that were read out from the SAP Solution Manager system and check whether a corresponding logical component is assigned to every scenario in SAP Best Practices Solution Builder.

  9. You can transfer the assigned Business Content back to the template and then into the SAP Solution Manager system.

On the basis of the logical components, the content appears in accordance with the business processes on the Configuration tab page.
