There are various situations in which you may need to create a message.

Features

You can create incident messages from the following applications:

  • In an SAP system with SAP GUI, you can report incidents from a transaction menu by choosing Start of the navigation path Help Next navigation step Create Support Message End of the navigation path.

  • In the managed systems, you can create messages in SAP Solution Manager with Start of the navigation path Help Next navigation step Create Support Message End of the navigation path.

  • You can create new incident messages in the Business Blueprint function, on the Service Messages tab page. For more information, see Creating Messages.

  • In the Test Management work center, testers can specify the status for a test case in the Tester Worklist (STWB_WORK) transaction and, if necessary, they can create an incident message. For information about the statuses for which you can create a message within the Test Workbench, see Assign Status.

  • You can create incident messages in the SAP Engagement and Service Delivery work center, in Issue Management.

  • You can create incident messages in the Technical Monitoring work center, for example, in BI Monitoring or PI Monitoring. For more information, see Processing Alerts.

  • You can create incident messages in the System Monitoring work center. For more information, see the Process Alerts section in Alert Inbox.

  • You can create incident messages in the End User Experience Monitoring work center. For more information, see Assigning Roles to EEMon Users.

  • In business process monitoring within the Business Process Operations work center, a value is defined to specify the maximum processing time for a business process. If this time is exceeded, an alert is triggered and an incident message is created automatically. For more information, see Calculating Service Times.

  • You can create incident messages from Cross-Database Comparison. For more information, see Creating Messages.

  • You can create incident messages in the interaction center.   • The Operating System Command Adapter enables you to use third-party incident management tools to create or close tickets, based on alerts created by the SAP Solution Manager alerting infrastructure. For more information, see Operating System Command Adapter.
