Procedure documentationChecking the Business Process Status

This procedure provides an overview of the status of your business processes. It enables you to determine whether the prerequisites for using the Business Process Change Analyzer are met. You can select specific parts of the Business Process Hierarchy and ensure that:

  • TBOMs and test cases are already assigned to a business process

  • Existing TBOMs are up to date

Prerequisites

You have created a Business Process Hierarchy. You have assigned executable entities and test cases to the relevant nodes.

Procedure

  1. Under Test Preparation Views, select whether to analyze projects or solutions.

  2. Select a project or solution, and choose Evaluate.

  3. Specify filter criteria to analyze your projects or solutions, and select Execute.

    You can, for example:

    • Filter by specific objects, such as transactions, to check their status

    • Filter by specific business processes to which test cases or TBOMs are not yet assigned

    • Check which TBOMs were or were not generated with automated test cases

The following is displayed for each structure element:

    • If a test case already exists, an X is displayed in the Test Cases column.

    • If a TBOM already exists, the status of the TBOM (Up-to-Date or Out-of-Date) is displayed in the TBOM Status column.

    • If a TBOM exists and background jobs were scheduled while it was being recorded (batch TBOM), a flag is displayed for this TBOM.

Green flag: The background jobs were already executed and the TBOM enhancement was created.

White flag: The background jobs are scheduled and have possibly already been executed, but TBOMs have not yet been generated. This takes place during the next TBOM collector run.

Red flag: Errors occurred while the TBOM enhancement was generated for background jobs (for example, the system could not connect to the managed system).

  4. You have the following options:

    • A test case is not yet assigned to a structure element that is to be tested: To generate a test plan using the Business Process Change Analyzer, you must first assign missing test cases. Double-click the relevant structure element to open it in the Business Process Hierarchy and assign it a test case.

    • A TBOM is not yet assigned to a structure element: Select the structure element and choose Create/Enhance TBOM. For more information, see Creating TBOMs.

    • An out-of-date TBOM is assigned to a structure element: If you are using an out-of-date TBOM, the change analysis is inaccurate. Update the TBOM when possible. Select the structure element and choose Create/Enhance TBOM. For more information, see Checking Whether a TBOM is Up-to-Date.

    • A batch TBOM is assigned to a structure element: Clicking the flag opens a dialog box with details on the batch TBOM. You can then determine which background job was scheduled, when it was executed, and whether a TBOM enhancement was already created for the objects affected. For more information, see Checking the Status of a Batch TBOM.

If you want an expert to create or update a TBOM, you can create a TBOM recording work item. Choose Create TBOM Recording Work Items. For more information, see Requesting TBOM Recording.

Result

You can analyze your business processes and create test plans from the analysis results. For more information, see Analyzing Business Processes Affected by Changes.
