Procedure documentationReporting Monthly or Yearly Service Availability Data

To report SAM data, you have the following options:

  • The user has access to SAP Solution Manager:

As an IT service manager or end user/Business Information Officer, display the adjusted data in a dashboard, and report the generated KPIs. Depending on the configuration, the following data is displayed

    • SAM Availability: To identify managed objects which do not currently meet the SLA, compare the actual availability with the configured SLA threshold.

      Note Note

In the SAM setup, a reporting period of either 1 or 12 months is configured. For more information about configuring SLA thresholds and reporting periods, see Setting Up Service Availablity Monitoring.

      End of the note.
    • SAM Availability (all periods): To put the current availability into perspective, monitor the availability of objects in the previous SLA periods.

      You can display

      • the availability of managed objects during the whole reporting time

      – or –

      • the availability of a certain managed object by periods

      Recommendation Recommendation

In the SAM setup, you defined the SLA period for the managed objects (1 or 12 months). For more information about configuring SLA thresholds and reporting periods, see Setting Up Service Availablity Monitoring.

      End of the recommendation.
    • SAM Uptime: The SAM uptime is the period of time since a service outage was last created. Low uptimes indicate problematic components.

    Note Note

The SAM availability chart contains only confirmed service outages. To check if there are unconfirmed service outages, use the uptime chart. Unconfirmed service outages are displayed in red.

    End of the note.
  • If the end user has no access to SAP Solution Manager: As an IT service manager, export the data into a Microsoft Excel file and import it in your reporting tool, to create a service availability report.

Prerequisites

  • You have authorization to display SAM data.

Procedure

In the Technical Administration work center, choose the Service Availability Management scenario.

The following data is displayed:

  • New Outages: Service Outages were generated which have not yet been checked and adjusted by the administrator responsible for the managed objects.

  • Outages in Process: The IT service manager requests the administrator responsible for the managed object to recheck the service outages.

  • Max. Outages Last 2 Months: The number of service outages of either the current or the previous month, depending on which value is higher.

    Example Example

The current date is 23 May. In the previous month (1 April to 30 April), 7 service outages ocurred. In the current month (1 May to 23 May), 4 service outages occurred. The maximal number of service outages during the last two months is 7.

    End of the example.
  • Downtimes This Month in Minutes: The SLA-relevant downtimes in minutes which occurred in the current calendar month. On April 15, for example, the service outages between 1 April and 15 April are displayed.
