Use

You must select collections so that you can perform the following tasks in a translation system:

·        Assign a specific group of collections to a translation graph

·        Assign a specific group of collections to a translator

·        Set a global lock for a specific group of collections so that they are not translated

·        Display statistics for a specific group of collections

·        Perform an evaluation for a specific group of collections

·        Call up a worklist in transaction SE63.

This section explains how the collection selection screen enables you to select the collections you require for one of the purposes listed above.

Procedure

...

       1.      Call the transaction in which you want to select collections.

       2.      Choose the pushbutton for selecting collections.

The Collections dialog box is displayed.

If your translator profile does not include the authorization object COSE, the system displays a list of all collections assigned to you. The list is sorted according to Translation Area Domain (ABAP texts) or according to Translation Area Track Release (non-ABAP texts.) In this dialog box, you can select the collections you want to edit or display. The selection options described below are not available to you.

If your translator profile includes the authorization object COSE, the Collections dialog box is displayed.

In this dialog box, you can select collections according to different criteria. You can create intersections, unions, differences, and complements according to Boolean logic. You can then fine tune the groups of collections (preselection) you created.

       3.      In the Selection Basis group box, specify the basic set of collections from which you want to make your selection.

¡        If you want to select all of the collections available in the translation system, choose the Choose pushbutton next to Total.

¡        If you want to select collections that belong to a specific namespace, enter the initial characters of the namespace, such as CRM* for all collections starting with CRM, in the Generic field. Then choose one of the pushbuttons next to Generic.

¡        You can choose one of the pushbuttons next to Graph to select collections that are assigned to a specific translation graph.

¡        You can select all collections that are not assigned to a translation graph by choosing one of the pushbuttons next to Without Graph.

¡        You can select the collections assigned to a specific translator by choosing one of the pushbuttons next to Translators.

¡        You can select the collections for a specific translation area with the pushbuttons next to Translation Area.

¡        You can select a set of collections you have exported to the buffer with one of the pushbuttons next to Buffer.

¡        You can select collections previously copied to the clipboard with one of the pushbuttons next to Clipboard.

¡        You can make a selection in another system by entering the system name in the Other System field. Then choose one of the pushbuttons next to Other System. However, you must set up an RFC connection to this system first.

¡        To transfer a selection you have already made from Fine Tune Result to Preselection, choose one of the pushbuttons next to Selection.

¡        Different pushbuttons are available for the various selection options. You start a new selection or delete an existing selection with the pushbutton Choose. You can create unions, differences, and intersections of sets with the icons Insert Rows, Delete Rows, and Intersection AB to increase or decrease your selection. You cannot create unions, differences, or intersections of sets until you have selected at least one set of collections.

       4.      The total number of selected collections is displayed next to Preselection.

Example

You want to select collections belonging to the namespaces BC, CRM, and SAP. You enter the value BC* in the Generic field, and choose the Choose pushbutton next to Generic. The Preselection field shows you that 750 collections starting with BC have been selected. You then enter the value CRM* next to the Choose pushbutton and choose Insert Rows. The collections already selected for namespace BC are supplemented by a further 250 collections from the namespace CRM. The total number displayed in the Preselection field is 1000. You repeat this procedure for the namespace SAP and another 500 collections are added. The total value is now 1500 collections. You then realize that the namespace BC is not relevant to translation after all. You enter the namespace BC* once again, but this time you select the Delete Rows icon next to Generic. The collections that belong to namespace BC are now removed from the preselection. The total value is 750 once again. Now you want to find out which of these collections are assigned to the translator MUELLER. Choose the Intersection AB icon next to Translators, the language into which the translator translates, and the translator MUELLER. Then save. Just 250 of the original 750 collections now remain in the preselection. These are all of the collections that belong to the namespaces SAP and CRM and are assigned to the translator MUELLER.

       5.      If you do not need all of the collections in the preselection, select the collections you really want by using the pushbuttons in the Fine Tune Result group box.

You can use the Standard, Graphs, List, Translation Area, and Translators pushbuttons to fine tune your result. These pushbuttons offer you different views to fine tune your selection.

¡        If you select the standard display, the system displays the collections in a tree structure with the nodes Translation Area Domain (ABAP texts) or Translation Area Track Release (non-ABAP texts.)

¡        If you choose the pushbutton Graphs, the system displays the collections sorted according to translation graphs.

¡        If you choose the pushbutton List, the system displays the collections in alphabetical order in a table, together with their translation area and collection type.

¡        If you choose the pushbutton Translation Area, the system displays the collections sorted according to translation area.

¡        If you select the pushbutton Translators, the system displays the collections according to how often they are already assigned to translators for a particular language. The system displays the number of translators to whom collections are assigned, followed by the names of the translators to whom each collection is assigned.

       6.      The Collections dialog box is displayed. Select the collections that need to be translated, and save your selection.

You see the final number of collections in the Result field within the Selection Basis group box.

Example

You made a preselection of all collections in the namespaces CRM and SAP that are assigned to the translator MUELLER. There are 250 collections in total. You need most of these collections. The only collections you do not need are SAPTEMP and CRMTEMP because they only contain temporary texts that are not relevant to translation. You select the standard display and deselect the collections SAPTEMP and CRMTEMP to exclude them from your selection. To return to the Collections dialog box, choose Execute. In the Collections dialog box, a total value of 248 is displayed in the Result field. The value 250 is still displayed in the Preselection field.

¡        If you want to make a different selection, choose the Deselect All icon next to Result.

¡        If you want to replace the selected set of collections with their complement (that is, all the other collections in the preselection that are not currently included in your resulting set), choose the Invert Rows icon next to Result.

¡        If you want your selection to become the preselection, choose Choose next to Selection in the Selection Basis group box.

¡        If you want to deduct your current selection from the preselection, choose the Delete Rows icon next to Selection in the Selection Basis group box.

¡        If you want to use your selection for other tasks, such as assigning collections to a translator for another language, choose Buffer or Clipboard in the Export group box.

Your current selection is written to the buffer or clipboard and is available when you call up the Collections dialog box again.

¡        When you are happy with your selection, choose Continue.

Result

You have selected a number of collections for further processing.

You can now assign the collections to a translation graph or translator, lock them globally, display statistics on them, call up a worklist for the collections or include them in an evaluation. For more information, see:
