A target system is a virtual system containing user-defined target configuration data. You can select the target system as a reference system when executing a configuration validation report.
When creating a new target system, you base the target configuration data on the configuration stores and store content of an existing system or template. You can then edit the configuration items, specify target values, and use operators to adapt the target system to your requirements.
In the Root Cause Analysis work center, choose Configuration Validation
.
Choose the Target System Maintenance
tab.
Choose Create
.
Display the desired system.
To find a system, you can enter selection criteria such as the system ID, system type, or store type, and then choose Display Selection
, or you can choose Display All
to show all systems in your landscape whose configuration can be verified.
Select the source system.
The configuration stores of the selected source system are displayed in a list. You can view store contents and detailed store information by clicking the store name. The store content is displayed in the lower part of the screen.
Choose a method for creating your target system. You have the following options:
Choose Create with Template
to use an existing target system as a template.
With this option, the template determines which stores are included in the target system. You can choose whether to copy the corresponding store content from the selected source system, or just copy the stores and store contents (if any) from the template. If the selected template contains the ABAP_TRANSPORTS
store, you can specify a date range to limit the values inserted into your new target system.
Choose Create Empty
to create a target system with just the ABAP or JAVA notes store (depending on the system type of the selected source system).
With this option, the relevant notes store is added to the target system with no values entered.
Select configuration stores from the source system, and then choose Create from Selected Stores
.
With this option, the stores and store contents are copied from the source system.
Note
Use filters to limit the display to certain configuration stores. For example, to display only ABAP configuration stores, enter ABAP* in the Name
column and press ENTER.
Enter an ID for your system and, optionally, a description, owner, and source system used.
Save your entries.
On the Target System Maintenance
tab, choose Edit
.
Locate your system by entering selection criteria, and then select it.
The configuration stores are displayed.
Select a configuration store.
The contents of the configuration store are displayed below.
Select an item.
The field values and operators for the selected item are displayed below.
Adapt the configuration. You have the following options:
You can enter a weighting value (low, medium, high, or very high) and weighting description for security-relevant items. These properties allow you to execute weighted validation reports for your security configuration. For more information, see Executing an Ad Hoc Report.
You can edit the target field values and operators for an item. To see implementation examples, choose (Display examples of operator implementation
).
You can edit items individually, or you can select several items and specify default field values and operators.
Note
To test how a set of field values and operators would rate a hypothetical comparison value, enter a comparison value, and then choose the icon in the Test Compliance
column. The Field Compliance
column shows whether the value you entered would be rated compliant or not compliant in a report.
You can add or remove configuration items from the list.
You can export the store contents to a local file. You can save the file in CSV format and then import the store contents into a different target system.
Save your entries.
You have created a target system that can be used as a reference system for validation reports.
