Editing Documents in the Document View of DW

In the Documents functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench, you can display and edit documents of any document class using different search criteria. You have the same functions for creating, importing, editing, exporting, and displaying documents as in the Documents screen (see Processing Documents on the Documents Screen). You can also branch to the BI metadata search/BI document administration (see Administration of BI Metadata Search and BI Documents).
1. You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the Documents functional area. On the left side of the screen, the data types for which you are able to edit documents are displayed:
○ Metadata
○ Master data
○ InfoProvider data

The maintenance of the most recently processed document class and the most recently made selection is displayed on the right side of the screen by default.

To display the
available documents, choose
Show Me Documents
From.
All the available document properties have the default value “*”, meaning that the system searches through all the values.

We recommend that you restrict the selection before you display the documents. You can use specific document properties as search criteria, or you can search the documents for a particular text string.

Note the
following special feature when navigating in the display screen for documents
on InfoProvider data objects: by choosing
Settings, you can restrict the number
of displayed characteristics. The Change User Settings dialog box
appears. Choose Only Offer Characteristics of the InfoProvider or
Display All Characteristics. In the list in the lower area of the
screen, you can also add or remove individual document properties.
Do not choose
Show Me Documents From until you have
finished making all of your restrictions and changes on the display
screen.
3. The system displays a list of documents for the restrictions you have made.
In contrast to the list of documents on the Documents screen, this list has an extra column that contains the name of the object for which the single document was created.

If all of the documents in the list belong to the same object, the Object Name column is not displayed.
As in document maintenance on the Documents screen, various functions are available. You access these functions:
○ Using the pushbuttons in the toolbar for the documents list
○ In the context menu of a single document

When you create a document, on the Logical Document Properties tab page only the fields for which you have made a selection are filled with default values. However, you can make further restrictions.
