Mapping Users: User Enters Own
Data
Business users can use this process to enter their own logon credentials for systems which you have defined in your system landscape.
● You have defined the systems in the system landscape. Without a system alias, the business user cannot choose a system to map to. For more information, see Editing Systems.
● You have configured the user mapping properties in the User Management Engine (UME).
For a description of the user
procedure, see
Setting Portal
Preferences. This process below describes the process system users use to
accomplish the same task.
...
1. The user logs on to the portal.
2. The user chooses Personalize.
3. The user chooses User Profile.
4. The user chooses Modify.
5. The user chooses User Mapping for System Access.
6. The user enters his or her credentials as required.
7. The user saves the information
If you are using Single Sign-On (SSO) with logon tickets to several SAP Systems, the users only need to map to the reference SAP System.
The information the user must enter depends on the way user mapping is configured.
If mapped user IDs are stored in a read-only LDAP directory, the User field is disabled and cannot be modified.
If you need only the user ID for SSO with logon tickets, you must still enter the password to validate the user ID you entered.
The business user has mapped his or her user ID to an external system. He or she can access that system without an extra logon step.
