Function documentationTest Repository

The Test Repository in the Test Management work center gives you access to the Test Composition Environment which is linked to and can be accessed from the Business Blueprint structure (transaction SOLAR02, Test Case tab page). In the Test Composition Environment, you can create and edit automated test cases easily:

  • You can create test scripts or test configurations for all test tools configured in the system, either eCATT, Component-Based Test Automation (CBTA), or third-party.

A test configuration contains a system data container, a test data container, and a (single) test script. A test script can contain multiple steps.

A Business Blueprint test case is a link to a test configuration. A test configuration contains reusable objects such as test script, system data container, and test data container.

In the Test Repository, you can create test scripts or test configurations. For more information see Components of Automated Test Cases.

  • You can compose an end-to-end test configuration of steps which you have created in various test tools: eCATT, CBTA, or third-party test tools. You define the sequence in which the parent script calls the test scripts (steps). This allows you to reuse existing test scripts, create modular test scripts and test end-to-end processes. For more information, see Mixing eCATT and Third-Party Test Tool Steps in a Test Script.

  • You can edit an existing test configuration or test scripts.

Prerequisites

Activities

Perform the following activities:

  1. Create or edit a test configuration containing a test data container, a system data container. For more information, see Creating a Test Configuration or a Test Script.

A bare test script which does not yet contain test script steps, is created automatically. You create a test script only, without test configuration, for example to create a test quickly.

  2. To specify, for example, the application component or system data container, maintain the SAP attributes of the test configuration or test script. For more information, see Maintaining SAP Attributes on the Attributes Tab Page.

  3. To edit the test script, record a test script or define the test script steps manually. For more information, see Composing a Test Script.

You can compose an end-to-end test configuration of steps which you have created in various test tools: eCATT, CBTA, standard regression testing or third-party test tools. For more information, see Mixing eCATT and Third-Party Test Tool Steps in a Test Script.

  4. Execute the test script manually, and resolve errors. For more information, see Executing Tests.

To monitor a test execution in detail, you can display an execution report. For more information, see Displaying the Execution Report.

  5. To schedule the test script, put it in a test plan. For more information, see Test Plan Management.
