Features

SAP Solution Manager Configuration comprises mandatory and optional scenarios.

For new installations, the following scenarios are required:

  • Overview: shows the mandatory scenarios System Preparation and Basic Configuration and their status.

  • System Preparation: configure prerequisites for performing SAP Solution Manager Configuration scenarios.

  • Basic Configuration: Configure the most important functions, applications, and work centers in SAP Solution Manager, for example, Maintenance Optimizer and Diagnostics.

  • Managed Systems Configuration: Connect your managed systems to SAP Solution Manager. You have to perform this scenario separately for each managed system. It is the basis for other functions, such as root cause analysis, technical monitoring, or EarlyWatch Alert.

    Note Note

You can choose whether to perform the full configuration or only the minimum required configuration. For more information about the difference between these configuration modes, see the dialog that opens when you change the configuration mode.

    End of the note.

Depending on your implementation, you configure, for example, the following scenarios:

  • EarlyWatch Alert Management: Configure your EarlyWatch Alert service.

  • Technical Monitoring: Configure the following sub-scenarios:

    • System Monitoring monitors the status of the managed systems.

    • SolMan Self-Monitoring monitors the status of SAP Solution Manager.

    • End-User Experience monitors hosts at various locations to simulate the availability and performance of business processes from an end-user perspective.

    • Orchestration Monitoring contains the scenarios Process Integration and Message Flow.
