Integration of PPM Projects and Change Request Management
The integration of SAP Solution Manager projects and SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM)
projects allows you to plan and manage projects in an IT environment, using SAP Solution Manager functionality.
You can enrich your SAP Solution Manager projects with the project management capabilities of SAP Portfolio and Project Management, including detailed planning and structuring of your project, and resource management, and you can hand over your plans to realization, using the integrated SAP Portfolio and Project Management and Change Request Management. Time and status feedback allow you to monitor the progress and resource consumption of your project.
The project management functions in SAP Portfolio and Project Management manage, for example, project time, resources and status. SAP Solution Manager projects are linked to the SAP Portfolio and Project Management projects for technical operations. Requests for change in Change Request Management are also integrated with tasks in SAP Portfolio and Project Management projects.
You can use the project management capabilities in SAP Portfolio and Project Management projects to manage SAP Solution Manager projects. When assigned, the SAP Portfolio and Project Management project is the leading project management tool, and replaces some SAP Solution Manager project management functions. Data entered in an SAP Portfolio and Project Management project is mapped and transferred to an SAP Solution Manager project, and the SAP Solution Manager project administration data entry capabilities are disabled, to guarantee data consistency.

General Customizing of SAP Portfolio and Project Management and Change Request Management is a prerequisite for the integration.
Mapping between SAP Solution Manager Projects and SAP Portfolio and Project Management Projects
The mapping between SAP Solution Manager projects, SAP Portfolio and Project Management projects, and requests for change, can be specified in Customizing activities. All relevant Customizing activities for SAP Solution Manager projects are assigned to a Customizing node. Authorization
You only can see the specific data of SAP Portfolio and Project Management in the Solution Manager transactions if you are authorized to display SAP Portfolio and Project Management projects.
Features
The following scenarios are supported:
Project assignment
You can assign a SAP Portfolio and Project Management project to an SAP Solution Manager project.
Implementation scenario
You can create a request for change out of an SAP Portfolio and Project Management task, to start the realization of this task. You use this scenario if you plan a new function before implementing it.
Maintenance scenario
You can create an SAP Portfolio and Project Management task out of a request for change. You use this scenario to manage smaller changes needed during productive use of a function, to include them in your project planning and monitoring.
Functional Restrictions
There are the following functional restrictions:
You cannot assign more than one SAP Solution Manager project to an SAP Portfolio and Project Management project
You cannot assign more than one SAP Portfolio and Project Management project to an SAP Solution Manager project
You cannot assign more than one request for change to an SAP Portfolio and Project Management task
You cannot assign more than one SAP Portfolio and Project Management task to a request for change
No distributed deployment
No integration of Quality Gate Management
No Roadmap integration
No migration of objects from the existing integration of Change Request Management and cProjects.
No functional relation and no assignment between the new integration and the existing integration of Change Request Management and cProjects
You can assign only one SAP Solution Manager project to one SAP Portfolio and Project Management project. The relationship is always 1:1, so the assignment to an SAP Portfolio and Project Management project is not copied when you copy an SAP Solution Manager project.
When you transport an SAP Solution Manager project, the SAP Portfolio and Project Management project assignment is not transported.
Not every SAP Portfolio and Project Management project type can be assigned to every SAP Solution Manager project type. The possible assignment combinations of project types are defined in the customizing.
An SAP Portfolio and Project Management project that is assigned to an SAP Solution Manager Project cannot be archived.
