Use

All the log data of the portal is written in the following directory:

...\usr\sap\<SAP_System ID>\JC<J2EE Engine Instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<n>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\logs.

With the Log Viewer you can look at and analyze all the log data of the portal, the data from activity tracing, and the log data of the SAP J2EE Server from a central location.

Integration

The Log Viewer is part of the SAP J2EE Engine installation. It runs as a service of the SAP J2EE Server. The log data is displayed from a client (Standalone Log Viewer) or directly in the J2EE Visual Administrator (Integrated Log Viewer).

Features

·        Displays application logs and system logs

·        Debugging support and performance improvement by providing information about system problems and internal processes

·        „Intelligent“ display of information (the Log Viewer „understands“ the information contained in a log file)

·        Centrally merges the log files of the SAP J2EE Server and involved systems

·        Searches for log data

·        Merges logs that have some kind of compatible sequence information across servers

·        Controls the amount of log data created (by controlling the threshold for the severity)
