Administrating the Precalculation Servers
(Transaction SPRO)
A number of administrative activities are necessary in the BI system for precalculating and broadcasting workbooks.

The following section describes the functions for administrating the precalculation servers offered in Customizing (transaction SPRO). Instead of these, we recommend using the functions in transaction RSPRECALCADMIN, as these offer additional functions and better options for monitoring the precalculations.
You can use
Create Precalculation Server to create new precalculation servers required
for precalculating workbooks. More information: Creating
Precalculation Servers.
You can use
Edit Precalculation Servers to change the
description of the server.
You can use
Delete Precalculation Server to remove servers that you no longer
need.
You can use
Restart Precalculation Server to
restart the Windows service Precalculation Service.

If you restart the BI system, you also have to restart the Windows service Precalculation Service.
You can use
Refresh View to refresh the list of
precalculation servers and its status display.
By clicking
Server Information, you can open a dialog box that shows the technical
name, description, and current information. Current information shows you the
current instances and the status of the server (online, offline). You
can also display or delete the front-end log. The front-end log is a log file
that displays errors that have occurred.
You can use
Test of Precalculation to test the
precalculation of workbooks and their broadcast by e-mail.
1. Enter the required workbook.
2. If the workbook contains variables, you can specify the variant that indicates which variable values are used to precalculate the workbook.
3. Specify the precalculation server.
4. Specify a Web template that determines the contents of the e-mail.
5. Enter the e-mail addresses for broadcasting.
The precalculation is started in the same way as from BEx Broadcaster. You can also test the function.
You can use
Display Current Queue to display a list of processed precalculations. You
can also view the average runtime there, for example.
Log on to the BI system on the PC where the precalculation service is installed and go to Customizing (transaction SPRO): SAP Reference IMG → SAP NetWeaver → Business Intelligence → Settings for Reporting and Analysis → Settings for Information Broadcasting→ Administrate Precalculation Server.
