Procedure documentationDisplaying an Interface and Connection Monitoring Scenario

To monitor interface channels for a selected scenario, display the following information:

  • Interface Channel Topology tab page:

    • Landscape: In a graphical overview, display the interface channels between systems, by type.

    • Detail information: Display the interfaces and attributes assigned to each interface channel.

    • Metric Details: Display the status and current values of interfaces, by metrics

Data is available per interface type in the selected scenario for all metrics marked as relevant for reporting.

  • Dashboards tab page: On the level of interface channels or individual interfaces, for each metric, display the values for the selected time range. Values are measured in intervals of 1 minutes or 5 minutes, depending on the metric. If you have assigned attributes to the interface channels, you can filter the data.

Depending on the interface type, the following availability, performance, or exceptions metrics are displayed, for example:

    • Remote Function Call

    • Web Service

    • SAP Process Integration

    • SAP Netweaver Gateway Services

    • SAP Public Cloud Communications (e.g., HCI)

    • IDocs

    • BDocs & CRM Middleware

    • qRFC, tRFC, bgRFC

    • Workflow

    • File system

Prerequisites

Procedure

Starting the Monitoring UI
  1. In the Technical Monitoring work center, choose Integration Monitoring.

  2. On the Interface Channel Monitoring tab page, select a scenario and choose the Interface Channel Monitoring pushbutton.

  3. If you have created multiple scenarios and attributes, to display the scenario list and the attributes, if maintained, choose Filters.

Using the Interface Channel Topology Tab Page
  • To display the current status of a system or interface, do the following:

    1. Choose Metric Details.

    2. Expand the node of an interface channel.

The current metric data is shown (the average response time in ms, for example).

  • To display the items on the Landscape dashboard app, as arranged by the administrator, at the bottom, choose Start of the navigation path Layout Next navigation step Public Layout End of the navigation path.

Using the Dashboards Tab Page
  • Define the time interval to monitor.

  • Select the channel type.

  • To display the data for a certain interface channel only, in the legend of the chart, position the mouse on the name of the interface channel.

  • To drill down to individual interfaces, in the legend of the chart, double-click the interface channel, or on a data point in the chart.

If configured, you can drill down to performance metrics on the level of instances. This data is only available for RFC or web services interfaces.

  • If you want an interface channel or interface to not be displayed in the chart, in the legend of the chart click the name of interface channel or interface

  • If you have activated alerting, to display alert details and to process alerts, in the dashboard apps, choose Alert Inbox.

  • If Web services or RFC exceptions occurred, you can start the Exception Management Cockpit, with, for example, the following options:

    • Display details of an exception

    • Create an incident or a notification

For more information, see Exception Management.
