Background documentationTechnical Information about Monitoring Data Reporting

This section presents E2E Monitoring and Alerting Infrastructure (MAI) data about technical basics, troubleshooting tools and reporting performance. This reporting data is displayed mainly in interactive reporting, Metric Monitor and various dashboards and dashboard apps.

The information in this section is mainly background information for technically-interested customers, and help when errors occur or if the performance of reporting or the underlying technical infrastructure is unsatisfactory. It also tells you how to reduce the reporting scope if the system load is too high.

Getting MAI Data for Interactive Reporting

This section tells you how the reporting data is obtained from MAI. This is done by the Extractor Framework (EFWK), the central SAP Solution Manager data collection and distribution infrastructure. IT presents the architecture of the Extractor Framework, Data Provider Connector (DPC), and the extractors and main extractors used.

This information is under Getting the MAI Data for Interactive Reporting.

Passing and Storing MAI Data in the Business Warehouse

This section tells you how the data obtained by the DPC is stored in the Business Warehouse (BW) and further processed. The following areas are displayed:

  • Data Loader (writing the data into various BW data store objects)

  • Mapping (Adjusting Data Structures to Save in BW)

  • Further processing in BW (write DSO data into InfoCubes)

This information is under Passing and Saving MAI Data in Business Warehouse.

Troubleshooting Tools

There are various tools available to check the data provision and processing for the MAI reporting scenario. They are presented in Troubleshooting Tools.

Monitoring and Optimizing MAI Data Reporting Performance

This section presents the most important MAI data reporting performance metrics. This tells you the target performance, and how you can improve it. The values are of the data loader, mapping and further processing of the data in BW.

This information is under Monitoring and Optimizing MAI Data Reporting Performance.

Interactive Reporting Web Templates, Queries and Info Providers

The web templates, queries and info providers on which the interactive reporting reports are based, are in the following sections:

Note Note

You do not normally need this information, but situations can arise in which this more detailed technical information is useful to you. When problems such as inadequate performance, insufficient memory, or error messages, you often only know the names of the technical objects in which the problems occurred. The following tables in the following sections, for example, identify which reports are affected.

End of the note.
