Function documentationIntegration of Process Integration Scenarios

To complete the documentation of your business processes, you can put process integration scenarios in your project or solution structure. The usual functions are available in the tabs for the newly-added structure nodes.

Integration

Process integration scenarios support cross-system processes which comprise several application components. The sequence of process integration scenarios are described by actions in the Enterprise Service Repository (ESR), based on the SAP Exchange Infrastructure. Actions are consecutive process steps. A function of an application component is assigned to each action. Information is exchanged between actions in different application components is via interfaces whose communication is realized by a mapping. This communication can be synchronous or asynchronous. Consecutive actions of the same SAP application do not need a mapping.

Actions are grouped by process integration scenario, which are in turn assigned to a namespace and a software component version. To put actions in the project or solution structure, you must assign a logical component. The software component version of the action must be in the product instance and version of the selected logical component.

Prerequisites

In SAP Solution Manager, you have registered the PI Server as a technical system of type Application Server Java. In Solution Manager Administration -> Landscape, you have created a product system for SAP NetWeaver and assigned the product instance for the PI Content, which is installed on the technical system. For more information, see Managing Logical Components.

In the Project Administration in the System Landscape tab, you have selected the logical component, and assigned the technical system to it.

You have created RFC connections between the SAP Solution Manager system and the PI server.

For more information, see the Customizing for SAP Solution Manager, under Start of the navigation path SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Capabilities Next navigation step Implementation/Upgrade Next navigation step External Integration End of the navigation path.

Features

  • Select actions from the Enterprise Service Repository

From the connected PI servers, you choose action connections from the ESR, and put them in the project or solution structure, at business process or process step level. You create interface scenarios. If there is a mapping between actions, it is copied into the SAP Solution Manager system as an additional interface, and flagged as an additional mapping step. The assigned actions are indicated by a symbol.

  • ESR object status display

You can display the status of an assigned ESR object in the source system, and thus of actions, in the context menu.

  • Copy external key as attribute

When you integrate ESR actions, the external keys, from which you can identify the objects in the source system, are copied as attributes.

Activities

You edit your project structure in the Business Blueprint (transaction SOLAR01) or your solution structure in the Solution Directory (transaction SOLMAN_DIRECTORY).
