Procedure documentation Sorting Ascending or Descending  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

 

Note

The following Notes are only valid for the Grid and List display.

This function is not available for the tree display.

Procedure

To sort one or more columns, proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Select one or more columns

       2.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to sort ascending or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to sort descending.

Or:

...

       1.      Select one or more columns

       2.      Use the secondary mouse button to click on the column header.

       3.      Choose Sort Ascending or Sort Descending.

Result

If a column has been sorted, a small red triangle in the column header shows the selected sort sequence (a triangle directed up indicated ascending sorting, a triangle directed down indicates descending sorting).

Procedure Without Column Selection

If you have not selected a column and you select one of the symbols listed above, the Define Sorting dialog box appears. In this dialog box you specify which columns are to be sorted. Proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Select the relevant entries in the Column Set.

       2.      Click This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to copy the selected entries to the Sort Criteria.

Or:

...

       1.      Select the relevant entries in the Column Set.

       2.      Click again on the selected entry or entries without releasing the mouse button. The cursor now appears with a small square.

       3.      Drag the entries to Sort Criteria and drop them.

To search for terms, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

In the Sort Criteria you determine how the selected columns are to be sorted by selecting the radiobutton under This graphic is explained in the accompanying text for ascending or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text for descending.

To change the sequence of the sort, proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Select one or more entries.

       2.      Click again on the selected entry or entries without releasing the mouse button. The cursor now appears with a small square.

       3.      Drag the entries to the required position and drop them.

The entry is added before the selected row.

Or:

...

       1.      Select one or more entries.

       2.      In order to move an entry/entries

      up one entry, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text,

      down one entry, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text,

      to the start of the sort sequence, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text,

      to the end of the sort sequence, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text,

To remove the entries from the sort criteria, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Confirm the dialog box with This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to copy the relevant settings.

Result

Delete Sorting

To delete a sorting, choose either This graphic is explained in the accompanying text or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text without selecting a column first. The Define Sorting dialog box reappears. Here you drag the column description from the Sort Criteria column to the Column Set (see above).

Caution

If you have ever defined a sorting for the list, or if the list is already presorted, you can only delete the sorting settings in so far as the sorting is retained for one column.

Alternative Procedure in Fullscreen Mode

Aside from the procedure described here, in fullscreen mode you also have the option to trigger the sorting using the menu path.

...

       1.      Select one or more columns

       2.      Choose Edit Sort Ascending or Edit Sort Descending.

To delete a sorting, choose Edit Sort Ascending or Edit Sort Descending without selecting a column (see above).
