Successful transports of software changes into your production systems can only take place when the people involved cooperate effectively in their various roles. Any changes made in the production system must be the responsibility of more than one person. The roles involved in the transport process must be well-defined and documented, together with their activities, and the communication flow between the individual persons in these roles must also be well-defined.
The following roles can be involved in the transport process:
Developers release their own transport requests in Transport Organizer.
The project lead can have the following tasks:
The transport administrator is responsible for the transport of transport requests, for the import of the requests, and for checking whether the import was successful. The transport administrator is not responsible for testing the content of the transport request.
The QA team tests all functions and the integration of the individual components of the transport request in the quality assurance system.
The following standard technical roles are delivered for performing the tasks involved in the transport process:
To assign this role to the users, use the role editor.
To create a technical role that meets the requirements of other roles in the transport process (such as developer, project lead, or member of the QA team), we recommend that you use the authorization trace. For more information, see Analyzing Authorizations Using the System Trace.
