Object documentationInteractive Reports for ABAP Systems - Availability

Probably the most important metric for systems is their availability. You can use reports about availability to centrally display the availability of your monitored systems, instances, hosts, and databases. In the context of interactive reporting, there are four reports available to give you a quick overview of the development of these availability values over time:

  • System Availability (Start of the navigation path <System ID> – SAP BASIS <Release> Next navigation step Availability Next navigation step System Availability End of the navigation path )

The report displays the availability of the selected system. A system is available if the message server of the system answers an HTTP request, and at least one application server is active at the message server.

The report takes account of unavailability because of planned downtime (see also Managing Work Modes). System availability can take the following values:

    • Available

    • Not available during a planned downtime

    • Monitoring pause – There are no availability values during planned downtimes of the SAP Solution Managers system.

    • Unplanned downtime

    • No availability information available. Availability undefined

  • Instance Availability (Start of the navigation path <System ID> – SAP BASIS <Release> Next navigation step Availability Next navigation step Instance Availability End of the navigation path )

The report outputs the availability of the instances of the selected system.

  • Host Availability (Start of the navigation path <System ID> – SAP BASIS <Release> Next navigation step Availability Next navigation step Host Availability End of the navigation path )

This report displays the availability of the hosts on which there are instances of the selected system. The availability is determined using an ICMP ping.

  • Database Availability (Start of the navigation path <System ID> – SAP BASIS <Release> Next navigation step Availability Next navigation step DB Availability End of the navigation path )

The report specifies the availability of the database.

Note Note

  • For information about how you can specify the desired systems and the time interval to be displayed, and how to call interactive reporting, see Using Interactive Reporting.

  • For information about the different display options for the reports for ABAP systems with regard to metrics, threshold values, and instances, see Interactive Reports for ABAP Systems.

End of the note.
