Procedure documentationAssigning Custom Message Types to Test Workbench Error Types

You can assign custom IT Service Management message types to error types defined in the Test Workbench.

Background

To create IT Service Management messages in the Test Workbench, to each of the following Test Workbench error types, an SAP-delivered message type is assigned by default.

  • Functional error: An application does not work as it is supposed to do.

  • Technical error: An automatic test case fails due to inconsistency, a manual test case is described incorrectly.

In this way you categorize messages based on errors reported by testers, in the SAP Solution Manager IT Service Management. This allows you to define settings for message handling, such as, for example, the status profile.

Prerequisites

  • You have customized the default message types (in Customizing for SAP Solution Manager, under Start of the navigation path SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step Capabilities (Optional) Next navigation step IT Service Management Next navigation step Transactions Next navigation step Define Transaction Types End of the navigation path).

  • You have called the Test Management work center.

  • You have administrator authorization.

Procedure

  1. Choose Administration.

  2. Under Test Organizer Settings, choose the Central Test Workbench Settings link.

  3. In the Central Test Workbench Settings view, select Transaction Type for TWB Service Desk Messages, and choose Change.

You find the following default assignments:

    • To select Test Workbench Test Case Error, transaction type SMDT is assigned.

    • To the Test Workbench Application Error, transaction type SMIN is assigned.

  4. Replace the default transaction types with your custom transaction types corresponding to your custom message types.

    Caution Caution

Ensure that only one message type (business transaction type) is assigned to each Test Workbench error type.

    End of the caution.
  5. Save your entries.
