Administrating Application Caching

The portal provides a content fetching service related to the application cache. The service has one property, Enable Client-Side Caching, which controls the client browser cache.

Values for the Enable Client-Side Caching property
Value	Result
true	The service uses the browser cache for each iView whose Allow Client-Side Caching property is set to `true`.
false	The service: Is disabled Does not use the browser cache Overrides the settings of the iViews, even those whose Allow Client-Side Caching property is set to `true`

All other properties connected to the application cache are set and administered at the iView level.

The portal also provides an infrastructure that supports loading BW iViews in a full proxy mode.

Procedure

Setting the property: Enable Client-Side Caching

From top-level navigation, choose System Administration System Configuration .
From Detailed Navigation, choose Service Configuration.
In the Portal Catalog, expand Applications com.sap.portal.contentfetching Services .
Right-click contentFetchingService and choose Configure to open the Service Configuration Editor.
Enter either true or false for the Enable Client-Side Caching property.
Click:
- Save to save your setting
- Restore Default to revert to the previous setting, and then Save.

Reactivating a disabled service

Restart the service in the com.sap.portal.contentfetching application as follows:

Right-click com.sap.portal.contentfetching and choose Administrate. The application details are displayed.
Click Restart for the following service:
- com.sap.portal.contentfetching|contentFetchingService
Next to Action, click Restart.
Close the editor of the com.sap.portal.contentfetching application.
